Your role:

In accordance with the regulations and professional standards applicable to the Company and its subsidiaries, the Specialist Advisor in Corporate Evaluation ensures compliance with and the rigor of the frameworks and processes related to portfolio evaluation with respect to Investissement Québec and its corporate subsidiaries for the purpose of annual financial information disclosure. The Specialist Advisor will also be called upon to intervene as a technical expert to support business lines in the field of evaluation.

Your main responsibilities

  • Perform autonomous evaluations of the fair value of debt and equity placements in accordance with recognized evaluation methods and evaluation policies and directives.
  • Collect and model relevant data, establish key assumptions and arguments, as well as documentation.
  • Propose alternative evaluation approaches when the complexity of the case requires it.
  • Ensure consistency in the application of methods and corroborate conclusions related to the value of each investment.
  • Conduct cross-reviews of evaluation work by other members of the evaluation team.
  • Regularly attend meetings with account directors for each investment portfolio.
  • Propose and design tools to facilitate the application of the evaluation policy, the calculation of values, as well as the documentation and tracking of investment values.
  • With your team, respond to questions from external auditors or any other entity related to the evaluation of placements.
  • Conduct various market research.
  • Be active in your network to contribute to the Company's reputation.

Your specific qualifications required

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Hold, or be in the process of obtaining, a Corporate Evaluation Expert (EEE) title, a CFA title, or a master's degree in finance (an asset).
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in corporate evaluation, corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, or any other complementary field of activity.
  • Experience in corporate evaluation in an accounting firm is an asset.
  • Have knowledge in the following areas:

+ Methods and approaches for corporate evaluation, establishment of the required rate of return on capital, establishment of the credit note for an investment, and evaluation of venture capital.

+ Knowledge of the financial and operational analysis of companies.

+ Financial modeling.

+ International Public Sector Valuation Guide for Investment and Venture Capital (IPEV).

+ Knowledge of financial statements and IFRS 13.

  • Advanced knowledge of the following tools:

+ Microsoft Office, particularly Excel spreadsheet.

+ Financial analysis software (Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Pitchbook), asset.

  • Bilingualism (French and English).
