Job Overview

Toonie Tours is currently seeking full-time and part-time seasonal walking tour guides to join our team in Montreal, Quebec.

As a walking tour guide, you will lead groups of 5 to 30 visitors on captivating tours, sharing the history, culture, and hidden gems of your city. You will create memorable experiences through your storytelling skills, excellent customer service, and passion for your local community.

This is an employee position offering a competitive hourly wage, performance-based revenue opportunities, and benefits for eligible employees.

Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is preferred during the tourist season.

Tour Details

  • Duration: Approximately 3 hours per tour.
  • Tour Times: 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 6:00 PM.
  • Languages: French, English, and/or Spanish.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging and entertaining walking tours for groups of 5 to 30 visitors.
  • Learn, research, and confidently present stories about the history, culture, and points of interest in your city.
  • Welcome visitors and provide an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.
  • Provide recommendations for local restaurants, attractions, events, and activities.
  • Promote Toonie Tours experiences and products to enhance each customer's visit.
  • Represent Toonie Tours professionally while acting as an ambassador for your community.
  • Participate in training, team meetings, and any other assigned tasks.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Warm, energetic, and approachable personality.
  • Strong storytelling abilities with a good sense of humor.
  • Passion for your community and desire to share it with visitors.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Comfortable walking approximately 5 km during a 2 to 3-hour tour while speaking and engaging the group.
  • Adaptability and comfort working in variable outdoor conditions.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Additional language skills are considered an asset:
  • German
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Russian

Any other language is also welcome.

  • A first aid certification is considered an asset.
  • Legal and Regulatory Requirements

Candidates for the tour guide position must hold a certification or authorization as a tour guide recognized by the Quebec Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (ITHQ) as well as a criminal record check.
