Within the accounting team, you will play a key role in the financial tracking of projects and in improving financial processes related to project management.

At BPA, we believe that project performance relies as much on technical expertise as on rigorous financial management. We are looking for an experienced project controller who will play a strategic role with project managers to ensure the financial health and performance of an engineering project portfolio.

In this key role, you will be at the heart of the collaboration between technical teams, project managers, and financial leadership, actively contributing to decision-making and optimizing project management practices.

Your impact

You will be responsible for ensuring rigorous financial tracking of projects and supporting teams in understanding and analyzing financial data.

More specifically, you

  • Track an engineering project portfolio and ensure the quality and compliance of financial information in files
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and billing teams
  • Organize periodic meetings with managers for the evaluation of ongoing work and recognition of revenue
  • Analyze project profitability based on their progress and validate the consistency of financial data
  • Identify high-risk projects and perform necessary follow-ups (additional fees, scope changes, overruns, etc.)
  • Support managers in reading and understanding financial indicators
  • Contribute to the production of performance reports, key indicators, and presentations for the executive team
  • Ensure the update of billable rates according to contracts and government requirements
  • Participate in the implementation and improvement of control methods and project management tools
  • Contribute to closing accounting activities and external audit files
  • Contribute to the migration of the ERP system and support teams during the transition period.

You will also participate in the evolution of project financial management practices, particularly through the use of our ERP and project management tools.

Profile sought

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA designation (asset)
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in project control, ideally in the field of engineering, construction, or professional services
  • Strong financial analysis and project stakeholder understanding capabilities
  • Proficiency in French and English, both oral and written*
  • Excellent collaboration skills with managers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Proficiency in English is essential due to shared services and to maintain an acceptable ratio among certain positions to ensure effective coordination and service delivery within the organization.

Technological skills

  • Excellent mastery of Excel (advanced level)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Experience with SuiteProjects Pro / NetSuite
  • Good mastery of Microsoft 365
