What is the job about?
As the General Manager, Commercial Financing, Agricultural Sector, you are part of a team of credit professionals working with the Large Businesses customer segment in the agricultural sector. You play a key role in achieving our growth objectives by establishing, issuing, and managing the credit portfolio of important agricultural commercial clients. You manage the overall credit relationship of an established client portfolio, particularly in terms of loan origination and continuous portfolio quality monitoring. You contribute to providing an exceptional customer experience by directly offering first-class advice to clients regarding business, finance, and credit.
What are the tasks?
- Collaborate with relationship directors to establish, execute, conclude, and monitor loan operations, including submitting credit applications to Group Risk Management (GRM) and presenting operations to clients.
- Support relationship directors in preparing and presenting credit presentations that clearly outline the benefits of the credit solutions offered to existing and potential clients.
- Demonstrate RBC's ability to quickly offer innovative and customized credit solutions and to provide credit solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Manage all aspects of the credit approval process, including discussions with the Committees and GRM, and establish strong working relationships with National Office staff and risk managers.
- Develop, strengthen, and deepen relationships with clients and collaborate with key RBC partners, including GRM, Private Banking, Corporate Client Group (e.g., Asset-Backed Loans, Leveraged Financing, Intermediary Market, and Mezzanine Financing), Transactional Banking Services, Personal Banking Services, and others.
- Exercise diligent oversight in formulating credit recommendations by collaborating with Risk Management, particularly in supporting risk management processes and guidelines, to determine the right combination of credit risk and structural mitigation measures.
- Ensure continuous portfolio quality monitoring through active management, including annual credit renewals, and monitoring and controlling commitments.
- What is required to succeed?
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated competence in financial analysis and credit analysis and application of excellence in relationship management criteria
- At least five years of experience in commercial lending within a major financial institution
- Experience supporting or being specialized in the agri-food or agriculture sector
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, accounting, or finance, strong quantitative, financial, and analytical modeling skills, and ability to analyze corporate financial statements
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with new communication resources and technologies (e.g., digital data sources, online meetings, social networks, digital banking services, and mobile applications)
- Professional communication skills (oral and written) and a strong attention to detail in preparing documents and financial analyses
- Excellent organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting tight deadlines
- Bilingualism (English and French) is required, as you will serve a clientele and do business with colleagues and partners who are Francophone and Anglophone across Canada
Desired Skills
- MBA, CPA, or CFA
- Professional experience in the field of corporate credit and large enterprise financing
- Training in credit and accounting and ability to understand complex concepts
