Director of EHS, Environment and Compliance

Your Contribution

As the Director of EHS, Environment and Compliance, you will be responsible for environmental regulatory compliance and the maintenance of EHS systems, including the management of mandatory reports (INRP, emissions, water), tracking legal requirements (ROL), and implementing the EMS system. You will coordinate sustainability activities, emergency exercises, and risk analyses (PHA, RCA). You will act as a key partner with internal teams and external authorities to ensure environmental performance and site compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the management and monitoring of EHS-PSM, SMSR, and EMS systems to maintain site compliance and performance
• Monitor regulatory and legal requirements, including coordinating Red-On-Line (ROL) reviews and required updates (Canutec, BDIC, PIU/ERAP)
• Prepare, validate, and submit mandatory environmental reports (INRP, QC atmospheric emissions, water management, GMRD, etc.)
• Coordinate EHS activities, including tracking data (air quality, sampling, and water consumption) and performance indicators
• Participate in risk analyses (PHA), investigations, and root cause analyses (RCA)
• Plan, maintain, and test emergency response plans (environmental and evacuation), including conducting exercises
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives and the 3-year integration plan, including participation in regional meetings
• Collaborate with internal teams (management, prevention) and external parties (regulatory authorities, municipalities)
• Manage the hazardous materials transport file
• Immediate supervisor of two (2) employees in health and safety

Desired Profile

• 8-10 years of experience in a similar role
• Education in environment, health-safety, or related field (bachelor's or master's degree in occupational health and safety or a university certificate in EHS in addition to a related bachelor's degree)
• Experience in environmental management in an industrial setting (chemical industry is a plus)
• Strong knowledge of Quebec and Canadian regulatory requirements
• Experience with management systems (EMS, ISO, or equivalent)
• Analytical and problem-solving skills (root cause analyses)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Autonomy, diligence, and organizational skills
• Bilingualism required
• Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
• Salary: $125,000.00 to $145,000.00 per year
• Location: On-site
