About the Position
Become the expert who accelerates innovation in mining operations. Drive cutting-edge technologies, address complex challenges, and elevate safety-quality-costs-timelines performance, while coaching on-site teams.
Reporting to the Head of Automation / Operational Technologies, the Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, development, programming, commissioning, and support of industrial control systems. You will act as a technical expert for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and operator user interfaces (UIO/HMI), while contributing to continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and operational performance of production sectors.
- Design, program, test, and commission industrial control systems (PLC, HMI/UIO) in compliance with engineering and cybersecurity standards.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize automation applications, operator interfaces, and industrial communication architectures to enhance process performance.
- Provide technical support and coaching to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure optimal system utilization.
- Participate in identifying needs, designing technical solutions, and executing modernization and investment projects (CAPEX).
- Perform and coordinate functional tests, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities to ensure project success.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, reliability, quality, productivity, and investment efficiency, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
- Commitment to your safety and your team's safety
- University degree in automation, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
- Significant experience in industrial operations support and a similar role in operational technology
- Proficiency in industrial technologies and process systems, including the integration of new technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and long-term solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent technical skills on various process control systems (Rockwell Automation (AB), Schneider (Modicon), Intouch), etc.
- Comfortable communicating orally and in writing and facilitating meetings with various stakeholders (technical and operational).
