Community Support Worker in Housing

The Carrrefour Autonomie P.A.L. (CAP) and Logi-PAL are housing resources for individuals with mental health concerns. CAP can accommodate 4 people for a stay of approximately one year. The building also has 4 apartments where 8 roommates reside (long-term). Logi-PAL has 6 apartments for a maximum of 8 residents (permanent) who utilize the services of the intervenants on an occasional basis. The housing intervenants (working during the day, weekdays) share the responsibilities related to the housing.

Desired Profile:

We are looking for a proactive, responsible, and organized intervenant in housing to support the residents of CAP and Logi-PAL and ensure the effective daily management of the buildings. This dual-role position combines psychosocial support and concrete responsibilities in property management, including rent collection, repair coordination, and building operation supervision.

The person holding the position will play a key role in the development of the residents' autonomy and well-being, while maintaining a secure, functional, and welcoming living environment. They will join an experienced team committed to supporting individuals living with mental health challenges.

Qualifications

• Bilingual (ability to converse in French and English)
• Ability to respect and implement the alternative philosophy, i.e., the mutual aid approach and the rights of members to self-determination
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the solution-oriented approach
• Warm, empathetic, and accessible attitude
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, and reliability
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team (employees, volunteers, and members)
• Experience in crisis management and conflict resolution
• Basic knowledge of cooking
• Experience in mental health and/or housing resources (asset)
• Experience or interest in property management (important asset)

Building Management

• Coordinate and supervise the maintenance, repairs, and renovations of CAP
• Act as a resource person for CAP's contractors and service providers
• Ensure follow-up on the property management of Logi-PAL in relation to its property manager
• Monitor the overall condition, cleanliness, and safety of the buildings
• Ensure the rapid resolution of maintenance issues

Financial and Operational Management

• Collect rents and follow up on CAP's payment
• Perform basic financial tasks (deposits, purchases, bill payments, expense tracking, etc.) of CAP
• Ensure follow-up with Logi-PAL's financial manager

Housing Administration and Resident Relations

• Receive, evaluate, and follow up on housing requests
• Maintain regular communication with residents regarding housing-related issues
• Conduct apartment visits and apply rules related to apartment maintenance

Resident Support and Community Engagement

• Use the solution-oriented approach to provide individual follow-ups focused on autonomy, personal goals, and community involvement
• Assist the animal therapy program in following up with residents
• Promote residents' participation in creating a respectful and healthy living environment
• Collaborate with the treatment teams of residents to maximize their well-being and autonomy
• Ensure the proper functioning of CAP (weekly resident meetings, task distribution, etc.)

Collaboration and Organizational Participation

• Collaborate with housing rights organizations according to the mandates of the board of directors and management
• Participate in internal meetings (weekly team meetings, housing committees, ad hoc committees, etc.)
• Offer occasional coverage in other Projet P.A.L. services, including community animation
