The challenges are numerous and stimulating. As a key player in Quebec's economy, the Ministry is tasked with ensuring, throughout its territory, the sustainable mobility of people and goods through efficient and secure transportation systems. As a vast organization, the Ministry employs over 8,500 people and manages 31,000 kilometers of roads and 11,000 structures. In practice, the Ministry maintains, secures, designs, and builds the vast networks of maritime, railway, air, and road transportation in Quebec while innovating and respecting the environment.

STUDENT JOB – Documentation Technician

  • To hold a student job in the public service, you must be enrolled full-time in a program of study (or part-time if you are in the penultimate or final session of your program of study)

  • The challenges we propose to you

The Innovation and Knowledge Management Center houses the Ministry's Documentation Center, responsible for information monitoring and library management. The mandate of the Documentation Center is to develop collections and provide access to scientific and technical documentation to the entire Ministry staff.

Provide technical support to the various operations of the Documentation Center, as needed.

  • Perform documentary processing of resources;
  • Participate in pruning and documentary management, to ensure quality, relevance, and organization;
  • Carry out information monitoring activities to disseminate relevant information;
  • Perform document digitization and contribute to the management of digital documents;
  • Ensure the loan of certain documents.

Remuneration, schedule, and working conditions

The minimum hourly rate is $23.01, and a 6.5% surcharge is added to this rate to compensate for certain social benefits.

The scale will be determined at hiring based on the candidate's experience.

  • The remuneration is determined based on the relevance of your additional schooling and your experiences related to the job. Therefore, it is important to detail them in your registration form, which will serve as a reference.

In addition to working during the day, Monday to Friday, the job allows for a flexible schedule, favoring the reconciliation between work, studies, and personal life, with adapted schedules:

  • 14-hour maximum schedule during study sessions;
  • 21-hour maximum schedule during reading weeks;
  • 35-hour maximum schedule during the summer and holiday periods.

Under certain conditions, the duration of your student job may be extended.

Depending on the needs of the sector, you may have access to hybrid telecommuting (telecommuting and in-person) in accordance with government policy. Further details regarding telecommuting will be provided during the hiring interview.

Desired profile and application procedures

The profile we are looking for

  • Functional knowledge of RDA cataloging standards and MARC 21 format;
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills;
  • Rigor, meticulousness, and attention to detail in task execution;
  • Good mastery of Microsoft Office suite.

Asset

  • Knowledge of the PortFolio library management system.

Requirements to meet to hold the student job

  • In addition to matching the above profile, you must:
  • Be enrolled full-time (or part-time if you are in the penultimate or final session of your program of study), in one of the following fields of study:
  • DEC in technical documentation
  • Be at least 16 years old as of June 30 of the current year;
  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada;
  • Have appropriate French language skills for the functions.
