The Expert Systems Architect is a key resource in delivering platforms for IT and business units. The Expert Systems Architect creates strategic platform solutions that deliver tangible business results to support CN's digital evolution, integrations, and business strategy. Expert in the design and development of concept-driven solutions (design thinking), this person carefully combines the latest development methodologies, intelligent automation, and the necessary tools to deliver platform solutions. Ultimately, this enables the company to offer new innovative capabilities smoothly, quickly, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic platform solutions integrating artificial intelligence and automation that produce tangible business results.
  • Bridge the gap between hardware and software by understanding the principles of functional architecture, solution architecture, and software development, and implementing them in public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Combine the latest DevSecOps methodologies and tools to enable the delivery of custom platform solutions.
  • Advocate for the role of digital platform solutions, artificial intelligence technologies, and advanced automation in realizing strategic opportunities to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Design and implement AIOps strategies to improve system reliability, enable predictive maintenance, and promote automated incident resolution across the entire platform ecosystem.
  • Use DevSecOps methodologies to streamline project delivery in a cost-effective manner, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Automate software development, software operations, and processes seamlessly, efficiently, and cost-effectively, relying heavily on the principles of infrastructure as code (IaC) and hyperautomation.
  • Improve software quality and accelerate deliveries by adopting a culture, practices, and tools designed to increase CN's ability to deliver applications and services faster.
  • Integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities into platform architectures to drive innovation, optimize workflows, and enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Promote available platform capabilities and associated expertise to business unit leaders and educate them on how to leverage them (including AI and automation) to achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, operations, data science teams, and business units to clarify requirements for various platform initiatives.
  • Meet stakeholders to determine the best solutions within CN's current ecosystem.
  • Ensure client success by achieving strategic business results, optimizing technology, and continuously enabling the organization.
  • Help CN stakeholders and internal users better connect to digital capabilities by establishing a common architecture framework and implementation roadmap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related discipline.
  • More than 10 years of experience in information technology.
  • More than 5 years of experience in a similar role in platform architecture and digital transformation initiatives, including planning, enterprise architecture, solution development, data integration, platform modeling, automation, optimization, and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience in the architecture and implementation of AI/ML, intelligent automation, and AIOps frameworks within an enterprise architecture.
  • Strong ability to transform complex concepts into concrete, actionable architectural deliverables.
  • Strong ability to make difficult decisions by understanding and explaining the trade-offs between business needs and economic impacts.
  • The role requires excellent relational skills to influence and guide both business and technical audiences toward a common goal that meets the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in the context of departmental or cross-departmental platform management initiatives.
  • Ability to balance the requirements and concerns of different stakeholders (business, finance, IT, operations, etc.) and make effective judgments by providing clear justification for decisions.
  • Ability to execute mandates with a high degree of autonomy, while knowing when to seek help and how to ensure adequate visibility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at different hierarchical levels and backgrounds.
  • Ability to participate effectively in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Curiosity and interest in acquiring knowledge about new architecture concepts, business domains, and technologies (particularly emerging trends in AI).
  • Ability to perform with little or no prior knowledge of a project's context, domain, or technologies involved.
  • Experience in multiple architectural domains: applications, information, technologies, security, artificial intelligence, etc.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and best practices related to its application to architecture activities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; French and English are an asset.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and domain-driven design (DDD).

Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms, off-the-shelf commercial and open-source solutions, API platforms (e.g., MuleSoft), and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Databricks, and IBM.
  • Deep expertise in DevOps, infrastructure as code (IaC), and advanced automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines via Microsoft Azure DevOps and Git).
  • Solid practical knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), generative AI, and the integration of these capabilities into platform services.
  • Experience with AIOps tools and methodologies for proactive platform monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated remediation.
  • Strong experience in customer experience management, UI/UX design, and front-end application development using leading mobile and web frameworks such as Mobile Back-End as a Service (Kinvey), iOS (Swift), Android, Java, JavaScript, NativeScript {N}, TypeScript, REST, AngularJS, Angular, Node.js, Xamarin, and .NET.
  • Experience in programming with Java, Python, database design, data analysis, and conversational agents (chatbots).
  • Good understanding and experience with database programming languages, including SQL and other technologies for relational databases, as well as NoSQL platforms such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and Hadoop.
  • Good experience in collaboration
