Under the authority of the Financial Services to Businesses Department, the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of SODEC's financing strategy (guaranteed debt). They will participate in all stages of the financing cycle, including business development, financing opportunity analysis, negotiation, and conclusion of agreements, including risk mitigation. They will ensure portfolio tracking to generate a positive impact beyond financial returns for cultural businesses. They will collaborate on the development of financial product strategies and growth axes for the Company. They will also participate in sectoral watch and provide recommendations to ensure that processes and policies remain relevant and adapted to the needs of cultural businesses.
Business Development and Financing Opportunities
- Identifies, creates, and approaches financing opportunities independently, with a focus on return on investment and alignment with the Company's Investment and Financing Policy and the various financing programs of the department;
- Develops and maintains strategic relationships with actors in the financing ecosystem that can contribute to the structuring of the financial package;
- Actively engages in their network to contribute to the positioning and shine of the Company;
- Acts as a representative of the Company within various committees and internal and external sector activities.
Analysis, Structuring, and Approval of Transactions
- Designs and structures financing projects, conducts preliminary analyses, and leads in-depth evaluations of files;
- Presents financing projects to decision-making bodies and ensures their approval;
- Leads the entire process, conducts negotiations, and secures financing agreements, including loan agreements and any other required contracts.
Transactional Coordination and Due Diligence
- Provides leadership to maximize performance and execution quality;
- Coordinates the work of team members under their responsibility;
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates the implementation of financing projects and due diligence work, including the use of external expertise as needed;
- Manages the various stages and components of studies in accordance with the project timeline and ensures communication between partners and specialized resources, both internal and external;
- Establishes a global conclusion from due diligence work to assess the position of financing.
Portfolio Tracking and Post-Investment Value Creation
- Ensures rigorous tracking of portfolio companies on financial, operational, and strategic levels;
- Assesses risks, recommends appropriate measures, and establishes required provisions, if applicable;
- Supports the achievement of objectives related to profitability, governance, and customer service;
- Maintains relationships with involved partners;
- Manages change requests, ensures compliance with contractual commitments, and prepares tracking files;
- Proactively formulates recommendations for the management of complex files and risk mitigation;
- Collaborates on the recovery of defaulted financing, provides an evolution report, and recommends, if necessary, the implementation of guarantees in collaboration with the legal department and management;
- Maintains and develops knowledge of the financing market and industry trends, particularly through participation in training, and shares this knowledge with colleagues;
- Participates in the development of financial product strategies and growth axes for the Company;
- Contributes to sectoral watch and, if necessary, formulates recommendations to ensure the adequacy of processes and policies to the needs of cultural businesses.
Performs any other related tasks or special assignments as requested by their immediate supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting;
- CPA or other relevant professional designation (an asset);
- Minimum five (5) to six (6) years of relevant experience in business financing;
- Significant experience in the analysis, structuring, and tracking of financial files;
- In-depth knowledge of financial analysis methods, financial structuring, financing file risk assessment, and the legal and regulatory framework applicable to businesses and the Company (an asset);
- Skills in prospecting (anticipation and initiation of business opportunities), communication, and negotiation with various stakeholders;
- Ability to simplify and synthesize information for presentation to decision-making bodies;
- Good knowledge of the cultural industry;
- Ability to effectively navigate within the government apparatus and apply principles of good governance, particularly in terms of accountability;
- Very good knowledge of French grammar and writing rules;
- Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written;
- Good knowledge of Office suite software.
The selected candidate must successfully complete knowledge validation tests.
