Valeurs mobilières Banque Laurentienne is a full-service integrated broker. Its Institutional – Fixed Income division is renowned for its strong presence with governments and corporate issuers at the national financing level, as well as in the market-making and trading sector.
We are looking for dedicated and highly motivated candidates with leadership and team spirit, as well as a good knowledge of the fixed income market, to fill the position of Sales Representative, Institutional Sales, Fixed Income. The incumbent will be required to provide fixed income securities distribution services to eligible national institutional investors, as described below.
Responsibilities
- Respond to the needs of a portfolio of clients in the Institutional – Fixed Income division regarding rates, provincial bond issues, the Trusts Adossés à des Créances Hypothécaires (TACH) program created under the National Housing Act (LNH), and credit.
- Maintain strong business relationships, gain a good understanding of clients' mandates, increase placement operations on primary and secondary markets, and create profitable business volume.
- Increase the number of VMBL clients.
- Coordinate all activities of the teams responsible for the debt capital markets, negotiations, and money market, from the company's top-level priorities to the routine tasks of risk allocation and negotiations.
- Determine and contribute to the exploitation of cross-selling opportunities for institutional operations and actions with existing customers.
- Organize meetings between clients and issuers, as well as internal stakeholders.
- Continuously improve your own understanding of the Canadian fixed income market. Work with the entire sales team to define negotiation ideas and market views to communicate to clients.
Qualifications
- Experience in a fixed income securities trading desk or sales office
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or finance, MBA and/or CFA
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English (French proficiency is an asset)
- Demonstrated experience in business development or sales
- Good analytical skills and understanding of the various structures of fixed income securities, macro-trends, and the impact on the market of various economic communications
- Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg
- Knowledge of the regulatory framework of the banking and financial markets sector
- Proven professional ethics and team spirit
- Coursework on securities trading in Canada and the Code of Conduct Manual, an asset
- Proficiency in both French and English is required as the position requires frequent written and oral communications on complex issues with internal and external parties in both languages.
