We are currently seeking two operational finance analysts to join our team. One will be based in Ontario or Quebec, and the other in Alberta or ... This is a hybrid position requiring occasional office presence.
Reports to: Director of Operational Finance
Job Objective: The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) analyst works in collaboration with the Director of Operational Finance to provide reliable and timely performance reports and analyses to the operations team and senior leadership. This role contributes to improving performance by identifying trends, explaining variances, and transforming data into actionable insights that guide operational and financial decision-making.
The FP&A analyst also plays a key role in the annual budget cycle, forecasting processes, and continuous variance analysis between budget and actual results. The incumbent works closely with the operations, finance, and technology teams to enhance reporting capabilities, optimize data quality, and support the evolution of key performance indicators (KPIs) and business intelligence tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly KPI reports to the operations teams and leadership, including:
- + Monthly conversion of new patients to revenue, by clinic or location
- + Staff productivity reports and trend analysis
- + Trends in new patient referrals compared to budget and their projected impact on revenue
+ Comparative analysis of projected and actual revenue and EBITDA, including key drivers and recommendations + Analysis to support the monthly clinic excellence index, including examination of key human resources, finance, and operations indicators
- Support clinics, vice-presidents, and regional directors in developing annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ongoing financial projections
- Support the Director of Operational Finance in reviewing, verifying, and consolidating regional budgets prepared by the operations department
- Collaborate with operations managers to identify performance trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate data into actionable recommendations that support business objectives
- In collaboration with the Director, develop, maintain, and enhance financial and operational models, primarily in Excel and Power BI, as reporting requirements and KPI frameworks evolve
- Develop and enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and analyses to provide better visibility into operational and financial performance
- Collaborate with the technology team to continuously validate and improve the reliability of automated and system-generated operational KPIs, including indicator definitions, calculations, and data quality
- Support end-of-month and end-of-quarter performance analyses by analyzing financial and operational results and preparing reports for senior leadership
Skills and Abilities
- Strong critical thinking and analytical judgment, including the ability to perform plausibility checks, validate data completeness and accuracy, and interpret results beyond the spreadsheet
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, data analysis, and report production
- Experience with Power BI, or demonstrated ability and interest in developing business intelligence and dashboard creation skills
- Solid financial knowledge and understanding of fundamental accounting and financial concepts, including income statements, revenue recognition, expenses, accruals, and EBITDA
- Clear and confident communication, with the ability to collaborate across operations, finance, and technology teams, and appropriately question or defend the reliability of data used in decision-making
- Ability to translate complex analyses into clear conclusions and actionable business recommendations
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptability and comfort working in a context where operational requirements evolve, including testing new key performance indicators (KPIs), models, and reporting methods, and continuously improving processes
Experience and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business administration, commerce, finance, data analysis, or information systems
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, operational analysis, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), or related business partner roles
- Experience in supporting operational leaders with budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting, and decision support
- Experience in creating and updating financial models and management reporting tools
- Experience with Power BI is considered a major asset
- Professional designation and/or graduate studies (CPA, MBA, CFA, or equivalent experience) are considered assets
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $70,000, based on experience
