This role is a combination of remote work and office presence. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers according to guidelines determined by the sector.

Why is this role important?

You will be an integral part of our bypass platform team. In this capacity, in close collaboration with product managers, the architect, and the technical manager, your mandate will be to ensure the smooth progress of product development in your area of expertise, coordinate the technical efforts required to deliver the requested features, while respecting the standards, practices, and standards set by the development leadership team.

This team is responsible for a harmonized product, driving ICI TOU.TV as well as CBC Gem.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and/or modify reusable components for Radio-Canada's digital platforms, such as the audio/video player;
  • Ensure compliance with standards and control product quality throughout the project;
  • Stay up-to-date with new trends in various areas of digital development;
  • Proactively propose solutions to challenges faced;
  • Participate in Agile Scrum activities to review ongoing projects to make necessary fixes and adjustments or completed projects to measure results;
  • Contribute to the development of user stories for our various products;
  • Ensure the good performance of developed applications to handle high load;
  • Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and application deployments;
  • Participate in code reviews and solution deployments.
  • We are looking for a candidate who meets the following profile:
  • University degree or equivalent experience;
  • At least 3 years of software development experience;
  • Experience in developing complex and performant mobile applications;
  • Proficiency in Xcode, Git, and Swift language;
  • Have a published application on the App Store;
  • Have worked in a code review context (pull request);
  • Knowledge of programming patterns (such as MVC, MVP, or MVVM);
  • Knowledge of SOLID architecture principles, an asset;
  • Ability to read, produce, and respect software architecture diagrams (UML, sequence diagram, etc.);
  • Interest in working on an application available on multiple form factors (mobile / tablet / TV);
  • Knowledge of SwiftUI, Combine;
  • Knowledge of AVPlayer, CoreData, and AlamoFire, an asset;
  • Knowledge of audio-video streaming on the web, an asset;
  • Knowledge of other programming languages, an asset;
  • Knowledge of design patterns, an asset;
  • General knowledge and intellectual curiosity (acquire and develop new knowledge and skills);
  • Critical thinking (question and propose new ideas);
  • Strong interest in the major trends and issues of the digital world;
  • Discipline, autonomy, and resourcefulness;
  • Excellent stress and priority management;
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking;
  • Flexibility, initiative, and dynamism;
  • Ability to work in a team, excellent communicator;
  • Proficiency in French;
  • Functional knowledge of written and spoken English required.

Please note that due to the nature of the mandates and responsibilities of this role, all candidates will have to work in a multilingual environment, where work will be conducted in both official languages (English and French). Consequently, employees working in this role will need to make the necessary efforts and adjustments to navigate this multilingual environment respectfully for all.

Please note that this is a 12-month contract position renewable annually. We clarify that this regular position is not a consulting mandate, but rather a long-term opportunity with interesting benefits as an employee of Radio Canada.
