Focused on energy research and development, the company contributes to reducing the carbon footprint. XNRGY is seeking a qualified Senior Manager, Process Engineering to join its team located in St-Hubert.
As Senior Manager of Process Engineering at the St-Hubert plant, you will be responsible for the entire manufacturing system, including people, processes, equipment, and digital infrastructure, across all value streams from raw material to finished product. Adopting a safety-first approach, you will contribute to volume growth, production efficiency, and operational stability, while leading advanced technical improvements in areas such as spot welding, bending, cutting, powder coating, automated fastening, and assembly. You will ensure the deployment and integration of MES/ERP systems, connected tools, and automation solutions as the foundation of operations, providing production and financial data, facilitating root cause analysis, and ensuring inventory accuracy. Leveraging automotive manufacturing principles adapted to HVAC production, you will develop scalable, high-performance, and rigorous manufacturing operations.
This role is ideal for a builder and change driver who excels in action, mobilizes teams around a clear vision, and fosters fast, structured, and responsible execution.
Overview of your responsibilities
- Operational Safety and Excellence
- Foster a safety culture across all value streams, proactively reducing risks and improving workstation ergonomics.
- Support and drive production volume growth by improving throughput, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on Lean principles (Kaizen, SMED, etc.) to optimize value streams.
- Value Stream and Process Leadership
- Map, manage, and continuously improve end-to-end value streams to ensure smooth material and information flow.
- Apply and adapt automotive manufacturing principles (Lean, standardized work, continuous flow) to HVAC production.
- Design fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing methods to reduce cycle times, work content, and improve ergonomics.
- Lead process improvements for critical technical operations (spot welding, bending, powder coating, automated fastening, etc.).
- Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize manufacturability, quality, and costs through Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Track and improve process performance indicators: First Pass Yield (FPY), scrap reduction, and impact on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Digital Systems and Automation – The Backbone of Operations
- Lead the deployment and configuration of MES/ERP systems to provide real-time visibility into production, financial performance, problem-solving data, and inventory accuracy.
- Integrate connected tools, automated test equipment, and production analysis solutions to support continuous improvement.
- Oversee automation projects (PLC, HMI interfaces, controller integration) to enhance flow, reliability, and operational precision.
- Align digital initiatives with operations, supply chain, engineering, and quality teams to maximize business impact.
- Equipment and Machine Optimization
- Track and improve equipment utilization and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in manufacturing, assembly, and finishing areas.
- Implement technical improvements on key equipment (welding, bending, cutting, painting, fastening) to increase uptime, quality, and production capacity.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering team composed of process engineers, method agents, tool designers, and other specialists.
- Collaborate with various functions across the company to prioritize projects, implement value stream improvements, and ensure their execution.
- Standardized Work and Documentation
- Develop and maintain method drawings, standardized operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions to ensure consistent, high-quality production.
- Standardize technical process documentation across value streams to support training and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Over 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, ideally within a Tier 1 automotive supplier, OEM manufacturer, or high-volume, complex production environment.
- Strong background in Lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement.
- Practical experience in fixture and tool design, and manufacturing methods.
- Excellent technical knowledge of spot welding, bending, cutting, powder coating, and automated fastening systems.
- Demonstrated experience in deploying MES/ERP systems and integrating connected tools and automation solutions.
- Experience in managing automation projects (PLC, HMI interfaces, integrators).
- Recognized leadership in health and safety with tangible results in process and work environment improvements.
- Proficiency in creating method drawings, standardized operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
- Knowledge of automotive industry quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949) or equivalent.
- Strategic vision combined with strong execution capabilities, excellent communication skills, and project management abilities.
