The Accounting Technician supports the Construction Finance team by ensuring the rapid and accurate processing of financial transactions and the integrity of construction-related accounting data. They work closely with project controllers, vendor accounts, customer accounts, procurement, and operations teams to support daily accounting activities, month-end closing processes, and project financial reporting.

What you will contribute

• Process vendor invoices and ensure all required supporting documentation is received.
• Reconcile invoices with purchase orders and investigate discrepancies or anomalies.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Project Controllers, and Project Managers to resolve billing issues.
• Prepare customer invoices, progress payment requests, and credit notes as needed.
• Record customer payments and contribute to the tracking of accounts receivable.
• Post journal entries and ensure the accuracy of general ledger records.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documents.
• Participate in monthly and annual closing activities, including the accounting of accrued expenses and prepayments.
• Maintain project cost records and ensure transactions are correctly coded.
• Support the production of work-in-progress (WIP) reports by providing accurate accounting data.
• Maintain organized electronic documentation to meet audit and compliance requirements.
• Participate in information requests for internal and external audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

What sets you apart

• College diploma (DEC) or university degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Experience in the construction industry is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of vendor accounts, customer accounts, and general accounting.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP system is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and attention to detail skills.
