Mandate of the dental hygienist in the perinatality, childhood and youth service:
Public dental health dedicates its efforts to the promotion of oral and dental health as well as the prevention of oral and dental diseases in Quebec. The National Public Health Program 2015-2025 (PNSP) supports public dental health activities. These activities aim to prevent the appearance of oral and dental health problems, particularly dental caries, and to reduce social inequalities in oral and dental health.
Expertise:
Dental hygienists at the Public Health Directorate have expertise in healthy oral and dental habits and contribute to improving the oral and dental health of children and adolescents.
Replacement (with possibility of permanent position)
Base location: CLSC Pont-Rouge
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (28 hours/week)
Intervention environments:
- Childcare and school-based childcare services
- Elementary and secondary schools
- Roles and responsibilities:
1. In collaboration with the team colleagues and dental advisors, plan and implement the public dental health program in the school environment and in childcare services.
- Apply dental sealant to children in the second year of elementary school and to adolescents in the second year of secondary school
- Application of diamine silver fluoride (FDA) to students in the second year of elementary school as needed
- Support childcare and school-based childcare services for the deployment of the supervised tooth brushing program with a fluoridated toothpaste.
2. Play an influencing role by informing and sensitizing children, adolescents and their parents about the importance of good oral and dental hygiene.
3. Respect the policies and procedures of the CIUSSSCN 4. Ensure clinical practice in dental health according to good practices and processes established by the Public Health Directorate and the CIUSSSCN 5. Participate in the reception of interns and the support of new dental hygienists who may join the team 6. Participate in one of the work committees within the dental health team 7. Collaborate with the head of service and dental advisors for the implementation of the Public Health Program at the Public Health Directorate of the CIUSSSCN
Requirements
- Hold a diploma from the Dental Hygiene Techniques program (DEC)
- Be a member of the Order of Dental Hygienists of Quebec
- Must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle
- Other experience requirements:
- Experience with the target clientele would be an asset

- Autonomy: Able to take the necessary means to fulfill their mandates, solve problems without waiting and take initiatives while consulting as needed
