Human Factors and Physical Ergonomics - Professional
Our group ensures that the design of Bombardier aircraft respects the perceptual, cognitive, and physical capabilities of the people who manufacture, maintain, and operate our equipment. We are responsible for the certification and user-centered design of cockpit positions and their components, including the equipment used by pilots and Human-Machine Interfaces for embedded systems and avionics.
What are your contributions to the team?
In the context of your position, you will participate in the development and certification of the geometry and interfaces of cockpit positions. You will also define the specifications of physical and functional interfaces and develop interface requirements. You will be called upon to perform iterative development involving 3D modeling, simulation, and analysis, mock-up and platform testing, and final product evaluation.
You will also:
- Participate in user-centered design engineering activities related to cockpit design and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design
- Deploy expertise in physical ergonomics in the context of testing and analysis
- Interact with pilots to develop and evaluate the usability of the cockpit
- Participate in the elicitation, validation, and verification of interface requirements
- Participate in task and human error analysis
- Participate in the development and evaluation of the user experience in the cockpit according to Bombardier's guidelines and philosophy
- Create and maintain documentation related to systems, interfaces, and design for various projects, whether for a new aircraft, a cockpit evolution, or studies on existing cockpit positions
- Collaborate with Human Factors specialists in maintenance and industry
How will you thrive in this role?
- You hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sciences, Industrial Design, or equivalent, and a diploma in physical ergonomics or equivalent.
- You have extensive experience in physical ergonomics (anthropometry, force, vision, behavior in vibration and turbulence, etc.)
- You have demonstrated solid practical experience with 3D modeling and analysis tools (CATIA, NX, Jack, Rhinoceros, Blender, etc.).
- You have in-depth knowledge or relevant experience in the field of aeronautics, including embedded systems (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, flight control, propulsion systems, etc.) or regulatory and design standards associated with them (e.g., MIL STD, SAE ARP, etc.).
- You are comfortable with computer tools and capable of quickly and autonomously learning the use of new software.
- You have knowledge or practical experience in manufacturing processes and materials
- Additionally,
- You demonstrate good technical writing and oral communication skills (spoken and written English is required; fluency in French would be an asset).
- You are a team player, organized, and motivated, capable of working without direct supervision.
- You have the ability to process a large amount of information, as necessary for planning and implementing complex testing or experimentation campaigns.
