Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Vice President, the candidate will be responsible for project tracking, schedule adherence, subcontracting oversight, cost control, and client negotiations. They will ensure the success of projects from the bidding phase to delivery. The Project Director will guarantee cohesion and communication among different managers, maintain business relationships, and achieve or exceed project objectives. Additionally, they will be tasked with: Operational Aspect: Planning, organizing, and coordinating major projects.
Supervising and tracking technical drawings and questions that impact the project.
Identifying contentious issues and applying appropriate corrective methods.
Preparing and negotiating subcontract agreements.
Monthly approval of invoices (subcontractors/suppliers).
Managing payment requests.
Supervising and coordinating budget preparation, activity projections, and expense management.
Validating monthly financial statements.
Planning strategic purchases (supply contracts, services, and subcontracting).
Supervising project closures (provisional, final acceptance, release of retention).
Coordinating the preparation of contract change requests and their validation.
Ensuring compliance with required quality control procedures.
Supporting and implementing our health and safety culture on construction sites.
Assisting and participating in meetings with clients, professionals, and subcontractors.
Human Resources Aspect: Identifying and attracting talent.
Supervising the preparation of job descriptions and assigning competent resources.
Validating requests and needs for supervision.
Developing the team and training the next generation.
Mentoring in project management.
Active involvement in the staff career development plan, including training, development, and evaluation.
Managing workplace relations among members of different teams (projects, clients).
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil/electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Successful experience in executing major projects over $30M.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil/electrical/industrial infrastructure construction projects.
Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).
Strong aptitude in communication, management, negotiation, and problem-solving.
Analytical mindset, sense of priority.
Open-minded and adaptable.
Initiative, leadership, and coaching capacity.
Organization, diligence, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project software.
