WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
Bailey Metals Ltd., a company of Saint-Gobain, is looking for an Industrial Mechanic at its Dorval (Quebec) plant.
Under the responsibility of the Plant Director, the Industrial Mechanic performs repair and preventive maintenance activities. This includes quickly diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing parts for the steel plate rolling mill lines, packaging equipment, labeling tools, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, machines, and hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Supervise, coordinate, and plan the daily maintenance activities of the team according to operational priorities.
- Ensure the availability of equipment to support production, quality, and customer service requirements.
- Communicate with production and planning teams regarding downtime, major repairs, and return-to-service delays.
- Document interventions, downtime, repairs performed, and preventive maintenance needs.
- Plan and coordinate the installation, relocation, and commissioning of equipment in accordance with safety standards.
- Monitor repairs, part replacements, and preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
- Maintain rigorous knowledge and application of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and correct or report any hazardous situations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, follow up on recommendations, and analyze safety trends.
- Promote a culture of health and safety within the team and ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in periodic company inventories.
- Perform any other related tasks assigned by management and be available to work according to operational needs.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- Relevant DEC or DEP in industrial maintenance, electromechanical, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, ideally in a steel processing plant or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Experience in electronic maintenance, instrumentation, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment.
- Good knowledge of health and safety laws, standards, and regulations.
- Welding skills (MIG and/or TIG) (asset).
- Experience in repairing forklifts and overhead cranes (asset).
- Proficiency in computer tools, including MS Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to work in a team, take initiative, and manage priorities effectively.
- Recognized for professionalism, ethics, analytical thinking, and quick learning ability.
Working Conditions

- Ability to lift weights up to 50 lb (23 kg).
- Availability to work overtime as needed.
- Flexibility to work different shifts according to operational needs.
