We are looking for a Project Engineer - Building to support the activities of our site in Pont-Rouge, located only 35 minutes from Quebec. The role involves managing the main projects of the plant, including infrastructure and industrial development projects, planning, and implementation. In the course of their duties, the person may also contribute to infrastructure and industrial development projects within our other sites in Canada.

As a Project Engineer - Building, the person will be primarily responsible for:

  • Leading projects and establishing plans, determining and developing the schedule, detailed budget, and installation and commissioning plans to achieve project objectives, evaluating and managing risks, and allocating available resources to the various phases of each project;
  • Managing relationships with stakeholders related to each project, such as the plant operations/maintenance team, the R&D team, the procurement and vendor accounts team, the project steering committee, contractors and external suppliers, engineering consultants/offices, regulatory bodies, and municipalities;
  • Demonstrating creativity and leadership to define, develop, and lead multidisciplinary projects with a strong business sense. The selected person will actively work with a national team on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects focused on construction management, equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, and project closure, including the transfer of safe work procedures to operations and maintenance teams;
  • Executing, managing, and coordinating the activities of each project to ensure that project objectives are met within the prescribed timeframes and funding parameters;
  • Preparing project reports for management and other stakeholders and being open to changes, then modifying the project scope, schedule, and/or budget as necessary;
  • Supervising the technical content of procedures and control programming for training as needed;
  • Resolving technical issues and challenges identified during the design-engineering-installation-commissioning phase of a single piece of equipment, a complete production line, or even a complete manufacturing facility;
  • Performing all other related tasks in accordance with Sika Canada Inc.'s health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • University degree in civil or building engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in project management or direction of small, medium, and large-scale projects, including construction or infrastructure projects valued at up to $5 million (essential criterion);
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS-Project or an equivalent project management tool;
  • Bilingual (French and English) to facilitate communication with the team outside Quebec (60% of the time) and our international colleagues;
  • Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
