Team Lead

Reports to the Store Manager:

As a Store Manager, you must work with your Store Manager (SM) to help store team members achieve sales performance expectations through active coaching, team sales environment development, and operational excellence when you are on duty. This position is assigned the keys to the store to open and close the store on time, as a duty manager. Additional opportunities for store management development may also be assigned to you.

Leadership

  • Works with the Store Manager and leadership team to help store staff achieve sales, service, and operations expectations when assigned as a duty manager or to open/close the store.
  • Supports the Store Manager and leadership team in defining clear performance expectations and ensuring the store team is trained in sales, customer service, and operations to meet company standards.
  • Models company values and sets the example as an active coach.
  • Effectively communicates sales priorities and information to ensure store staff are equipped to maximize business opportunities based on expectations defined by the Store Manager.
  • Collaborates with the Store Manager and leadership team to help with store staff recruitment and embraces diversity by contributing to an inclusive store environment.

Performance

  • Supports the Store Manager and leadership team in achieving the store's business plans, including sales, customer service, and operational goals.
  • Assists the Store Manager and leadership team in executing match plans and tracking execution to maximize sales and achieve consistent performance results.
  • Partners with the Store Manager and leadership team to present opportunities with factual information and recommendations.
  • Understands how to leverage store reports to understand decisions made to drive store activity.
  • Participate in creating business opportunities and communicate leads to the Store Manager.
  • Identifies performance opportunities and works with the Store Manager and leadership team to contribute to the development of a plan to effectively solve and manage issues.

Operational Excellence

  • Works with the Store Manager and leadership team to ensure store hours accuracy and appropriate staffing to effectively execute operational initiatives and tasks while maintaining appropriate sales coverage to deliver on the customer promise.
  • Helps the Store Manager and leadership team train store staff on all assigned internal operational functions.
  • Keeps informed of company communication, directives, initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Supports the Store Manager and leadership team in implementing store programs to increase sales efficiency, service, operations, and brand image when assigned.

Workplace

  • Contributes to an engaged and inclusive store environment where opinions and contributions are recognized and valued.
  • Supports a learning and development culture, ensuring training tools are utilized.
  • Serves as a model for all store team members and offers motivating and enthusiastic leadership.
  • Helps the Store Manager and leadership team create a regular pipeline of external talent through recruitment.
  • Works with the Store Manager and leadership team to schedule regular store meetings to ensure all store team members are aware of company directives.

Customer Experience

  • Helps the Store Manager and leadership team train the store team on customer service expectations and create an exceptional customer experience.
  • Supports the Store Manager and leadership team in leading the store team to exceed customer expectations and achieve a high net promoter score (NPS).
  • Understands how to leverage customer feedback to understand decisions made by the Store Manager to allow for appropriate action to prevent or resolve customer issues.
  • Collaborates with the Store Manager and leadership team to ensure the store is visually defined according to brand standards and marketing initiatives are executed according to company directives.
  • Salary between *$19.42 - $23.00/hr*

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in retail or sales.
  • Creative person with good judgment and attuned to the pulse of the business.

  • Demonstrates active listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to train and develop highly performing store teams.
  • Proficiency in technological systems, applications, Microsoft Office, and videoconferencing.
  • Ability to use a computer and point-of-sale system.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Interpret, follow, and execute detailed instructions. Learn, apply, and retain company policies and procedures; merchandise and sales information.
  • Resolve employee and customer issues containing many variables and be able to relay sensitive or complex information and obtain consensus from various groups.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally all written and verbal instructions with colleagues and customers.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and competitive team sales environment.
  • Read, count, and write to complete documentation and inventory accurately. Perform simple additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions or be able to do so with a calculator.
  • Bend and crouch to locate and retrieve merchandise located at floor level and to assist customers with putting on their shoes; bend and crouch to mark pants for alterations. Climb a ladder to reach merchandise and/or supplies located above shoulder level.
  • Raise arms and pass hand over head to hang or remove merchandise from shelves or place on customer.
  • Operate a computer and cash register, including manual tasks such as crossing the counter to exchange money with the customer, entering, pulling, pushing, and folding merchandise to package customers' purchases.
  • Stand and walk for the majority of work shifts, sometimes up to twelve hours a day, five or sometimes six days a week.
  • Frequent (at least 2/3 of the workday) bend and twist at the neck and waist, crouch and kneel, reach above and below shoulder height, grasp, pull, push, and manipulate finely with both hands, lift up to 50 lb.
  • Display and distinguish patterns and colors of fabrics.
  • Full-time store managers must be able to work at least 40 hours a week as needed, which may include working any of the store's opening hours, at least two closing shifts a week, on Saturdays, and six days a week during peak periods. Part-time store managers must be able to work at least 24 hours a week as needed, which may include all days and all opening hours of the store.
