The Environment and Earth Sciences team at CIMA+ is looking for a biologist in the fields of natural environment characterization, impact studies, and authorization and permit requests.
In this role, your main responsibility will be to closely participate in all aspects of multidisciplinary projects of various natures (transport, industrial, etc.), for both public and private clients.
Additionally, this position involves alternating between the office and the field to carry out various activities related to natural environment characterization.
We offer a flexible hybrid work mode allowing you to work from home and our offices in Quebec City, Lévis, Montreal, or Gatineau.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and carry out natural environment characterization studies (fauna inventory, floristics, wetland and aquatic habitats)
- Plan, supervise, and if necessary, carry out field activities (floristic, faunal inventories, and natural habitat delineation)
- Write and follow up on permit and authorization requests with the appropriate government authorities, within the framework of various nature and scale projects
- Verify and validate the methodology used and revise deliverables to ensure quality control on the work performed
- Produce and analyze environmental-related geomatics data (ArcGis, Fieldmaps, Google Earth, etc.) in collaboration with our Geomatics service
- Coordinate and supervise the human and material resources assigned to projects under your responsibility, including health and safety
- Lead and participate in the preparation of proposals (strategy, work plan, client meeting, budget, etc.) and contribute to the business development efforts of the service
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology or equivalent
- Master's degree (M.Sc., M.Sc.A., M.Env.) (an asset)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years on the field
- Mastery of inventory techniques
- Knowledge of applicable regulations at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels
- Project management skills (personnel coordination, schedule and budget tracking, etc.)
- Experience in permit and authorization requests with municipal, provincial, and federal authorities
- Experience in natural habitat restoration (an asset)
- Bilingualism: Proficiency in both French and English is essential for this position to ensure harmonious interactions with our various stakeholders, guarantee clear communication, and successfully complete our various national-scale projects
- Valid driver's license to perform the required field trips as part of the duties
- General Health and Safety on Construction Sites certification (ASP construction card) (an asset)
