Oncology Therapeutic Specialist

Role Purpose

Responsible for driving the oncology sales results within their defined territory and respective regions by influencing key Canadian oncology institutions, their satellite centers, and key stakeholders within them to ensure best patient care and management.

Core Responsibilities

  • Call on targeted specialists and multidisciplinary teams of identified tumor areas within the designated territory to ensure diagnosis and management of patients within institutions and care networks.
  • Support regional sales growth through effective promotion of scientific data, best medicine, protocol usage, and through development and implementation of learning initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Oncology Business Regional and Therapeutic Core Teams in the development of an integrated regional business plan that supports the Oncology BU strategy and objectives within territory and care networks.
  • Identify and handle adverse event and product complaint reports as per Corporate and Regulatory standard procedures.

Influence of Key Canadian Oncology Stakeholders

  • Contact oncology specialists and multidisciplinary teams in the territory to promote Pfizer Oncology portfolio products with the required reach and frequency.
  • Develop oncology advocates for Pfizer’s Oncology products through the initiation and implementation of Regional Speaker/Learning/Advocate development programs.
  • Disseminate information to local and regional oncology specialists and regional partners when appropriate to promote best medicine and protocol usage in oncology through scientific evidence-based medicine related to Pfizer’s Oncology products.

Product and Oncology Knowledge

  • Establish and maintain a clear understanding of the regional oncology marketplace, develop and maintain a superior level of product and disease state knowledge.
  • Support the effective delivery of POA workshops and execution through fieldwork activities in order to reach established goals. Primary focus will be on product, disease, and institution/network knowledge.
  • Actively participate in oncology management team meetings (through feedback and tumor lead team) in support of regional field issues.
  • Contribute to annual national business planning by regional business planning processes.
  • Create a partnership with customers working in the oncology department of leading centers.

Regional Key Opinion Leader Development

  • In collaboration with Therapeutic Core and Regional Business Teams, develop and implement Regional KOL and learning plans for promoted Oncology products and Oncology Portfolio.
  • Work closely with Oncology Core Teams to ensure effective development of Regional initiatives consistent with national strategies.

Support Key Oncology Networks

  • Understand how cancer care is organized and delivered through the various hospitals affiliated geographically into networks within this territory.
  • Identify who determine(s) and manage(s) the different services and programs of oncology for each type of tumor.
  • Spot needs in terms of care delivery to improve care standards where our medicines have a role to play.
  • Improve the interface with our clients and elaborate value propositions for our clientele and the Oncology Unit in collaboration with the dedicated tumor site team and the regional team.

General Requirements

  • One or more university degrees in a relevant discipline, successful experience in the sale of pharmaceutical products, and at least three years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience as a specialized representative or in a university hospital center.
  • Experience in oncology, an asset.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in teams as well as with medical opinion leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and a care network.
  • Experience in account management.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) – the incumbent must be able to communicate well in English, as their functions require interactions with stakeholders and colleagues outside Quebec or Canada.
  • *The base annual salary for this position ranges from $94,500 to $157,500.*
