The Role of the Packaging Technician

The packaging technician will support the development of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions. The packaging technician is responsible for the qualification of new packaging and new formula/packaging pairs, ensuring that the developed products meet Galderma's quality requirements.

It is also important to have sensitivity to the needs of internal and external customers (i.e., marketing, procurement, production, consumer, etc.).

Specific Responsibilities

• Contract position for 12 months
• Participation in the development of packaging test plans
• Contribution to risk assessment prior to conducting tests
• Conducting qualification tests in the laboratory on various types of packaging (bottle, jar, tube, airless, pouch, label, case, etc.)
• Technical investigation on specific issues
• Organization of packaging activities to produce mini-series
• Writing test reports, specifications, and document management
• Updating or creating new test protocols
• Procurement/shipping of laboratory components and consumables
• Maintenance of the laboratory and storage area, calibration of equipment
• Organization and tracking of laboratory workload schedule
• Training and supervision of new arrivals (temporary, intern, etc.)

Qualifications for the Position

• Degree in mechanical engineering/industrial engineering or industrial design
• Experience in packaging qualification or laboratory environment
• Knowledge of metrology (asset)
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. (asset)
• Proficiency in computer tools (primarily Microsoft Office environment)
• Ability to analyze, synthesize, and write
• Ability to work autonomously and take initiative
• Ability to establish priorities and good sense of responsibility
• Constructive mindset, tenacity, curiosity, and rigor
• Sensitivity to product quality and their usage
