Engineering Director

S. HUOT INC., a recognized and specialized company in mechanical manufacturing, welding, and machining, is looking for a candidate to fill the position of: Engineering Director

Under the responsibility of the President and CEO, the candidate will have the following tasks:

• Manage human and material resources of his/her department (draftsmen, designers, and project managers) as well as subcontractor personnel;
• Increase productivity and efficiency of the human resources of his/her department;
• Work in collaboration with other departments to achieve the company's strategic objectives and orientations;
• Ensure that customer requests are met throughout the design and production process;
• Distribute work among various project managers and industrial designers;
• Improve profitability by simplifying the design of our products while respecting customer specifications;
• Ensure follow-ups with internal and external clients;
• Respect design and production delivery deadlines;
• Ensure the smooth functioning and harmony of his/her department;
• Plan, short, medium, and long-term human resource needs. Assign responsibilities to his/her staff, periodically evaluate personnel;
• Ensure continuous training and development of employees so that they are recognized as experts in the fields related to the manufacture of our products;
• Collaborate in the management of the company by participating in various committees. Report on the achievements of his/her group, ongoing activities, and concerns;
• Ensure that the quality assurance program is respected by his/her work group. In collaboration with quality assurance, establish and maintain up-to-date performance and quality measurement systems;
• Collaborate to maintain the participative management and continuous improvement process;
• Perform any other tasks as required by his/her immediate supervisor.

Required Skills

• Have accumulated a minimum of 5 years and more of experience in a management position;
• Recognized experience in mobilizing in a context of change;
• Demonstrate excellent knowledge and technical experience of industrial equipment in the mining or forestry sectors;
• Knowledge of Epicor software (strong asset);
• Mastery of business analysis tools and techniques and computer software;
• Holder of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
• Knowledge in conveyors (an asset)
• Advanced English is essential.
