Description
Position Overview
Quality Assurance associate will be responsible for developing and overseeing the quality management system, ensuring that all cannabis products meet regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a QAP (Quality Assurance Person) certification, experience in quality assurance in highly regulated industries, and a strong background in compliance, auditing, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Health Canada’s cannabis regulations, including Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Document Practices (GDP).
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure the consistency and safety of all products.
- Track, maintain and archive controlled documents and file records for all quality-related activities within the facility, as per procedural and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure incoming materials are received from qualified vendors and are within specification.
- Participate in root-cause analysis, deviations, complaints and adverse reactions, product recalls, and other investigation activities to ensure that effective corrective/preventive actions are implemented, and processes are improved.
- Prepare samples to send to a third-party laboratory for analysis.
- Conduct regular audits of facilities, processes, and products to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage product recalls and adverse events, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, R\&D, regulatory affairs) to integrate quality assurance measures into all stages of product development and manufacturing.
- Maintain and renew QAP certification, ensuring the company is always compliant with Health Canada’s regulations.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory updates, ensuring the company remains proactive in maintaining compliance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and third-party auditors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce risk, and optimize processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in the cannabis, pharmaceutical, or food industries.
- Strong knowledge of Health Canada’s cannabis regulations, including GPP and GMP.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in audit management and regulatory inspections.
- Job Type: Full-time
- Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
