This process aims to fill 1 position (101240) for a period of 3 years. OUR OFFER

Within the Building Management and Planning Service (SGPI) of the City of Montreal, the Expertise-Consulting and Ecological Transition Division coordinates and supports a drastic shift towards ecological transition for the municipal property portfolio and the municipal vehicle fleet.

For the property domain, the foundations of the projects are the energy transition towards hydroelectricity and renewable natural gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the use of fossil fuels (heating).

The SGPI's ecological transition program has been developed in accordance with the City's financial capabilities and the current economic situation.

Interventions are planned where the need for asset maintenance is critical. 70% of the required investments for the implementation of the program aim to reduce the obsolescence of mechanical systems (heating and ventilation).

Your Mandate

The engineer's role is part of a consulting-planning role where collaboration, innovation, and quality are important values. You will be part of a team composed of engineers, architects, and professionals.

You will actively contribute to improving the energy efficiency of the property portfolio and the electrification of the municipal fleet. More specifically, you will:

  • participate in the planning and design of regulatory frameworks for the ecological transition sub-program in upgrading control systems and recommissioning buildings;
  • participate in the preliminary analysis, design, execution, and commissioning of projects for which you are responsible for the discipline;
  • write technical notes or studies on the selected solutions and those that have been rejected;
  • provide solutions to various problems encountered, in collaboration with engineers and technicians in operation;
  • develop design criteria, automation standards, and standardized documents to standardize the works and systems used;
  • evaluate energy-saving measures, their costs, and their integration possibilities for the City;
  • develop arguments demonstrating the economic and environmental gains linked to the replacement, investment, renovation, or transformation of systems using renewable energies;
  • actively participate in the development of internal and external competencies to ensure the success of the implementation of the measures;
  • contribute to strategic alignments in the sector by collaborating with the main stakeholders in expertise and promoting continuous improvement.

PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automated production engineering, electronic engineering, systems engineering, or another relevant field
  • 4 years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, specifically in the control of institutional building electromechanical systems, in the planning of decarbonization and energy efficiency strategies for institutional buildings
  • Experience with recommissioning, domotics or immotics, CVCA, geothermal systems, energy recovery, smart networks, control programming, advanced energy networks and their management, building energy ratings - asset
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Building Code, the Quebec Building Electrical Code, and provincial laws related to buildings - asset
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (ing.)
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Construction Safety and Health General Course Certificate
  • Required skills: Expertise domain knowledge, interpersonal communication, organizational skills, consulting role
