Description

At Lyft, our mission is to serve and connect. We achieve this by fostering a workplace where everyone finds their place and has the opportunity to thrive.

Lyft connects people to transportation to transform the way we live and move in our communities. Lyft is the leader in micromobility in North America. We provide the software that powers BIXI and own and/or operate bike-share services in New York (Citi Bike), Chicago (Divvy), San Francisco (Bay Wheels), Portland (Biketown), Boston (BlueBikes), and Washington D.C. (Capital Bikeshare). Our software is used on over 45 markets to manage bike and scooter systems, extending our presence beyond the markets where we operate directly.

We are looking for a passionate product designer to join our Montreal office and integrate the Lyft Urban Solutions team.

As a member of the Operations Technology team, you will be responsible for evolving the platform that drives our company's global field operations. You will design features used in warehouses, vehicles, and on the field to make our transportation systems among the most reliable in the world. You will tackle complex technical challenges and advocate for experiences that delight our operators and optimize their efficiency.

Our Montreal office developed the first automated bike-share system in North America and continues to work on the platform that provides cutting-edge bikes and e-scooters for tens of millions of trips annually.

As a product designer at Lyft, you will participate in every stage of product development, from initial design to design quality validation to launch. You will leverage your skills in interaction, visual design, and product design. Within the Lyft Urban Solutions team, you will be responsible for designing the main user experience features for our bike and scooter users, within the Lyft app and our market-specific apps.

In many ways, we operate like a start-up: we collaborate closely across different organizations to share a common product vision and ensure product launches. Our design and research teams prioritize a user-centered approach to create the best possible experience for users worldwide. We know how to be inventive when necessary, while always staying focused on quality and impact.

As a qualified candidate, you have proven yourself by leading successful projects, both for users and the company. You are an effective cross-functional partner, an excellent communicator, and capable of turning an idea into a concrete solution. You are demanding of yourself, with a keen eye for detail. Above all, you approach problems holistically and design elegant and simple solutions for complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision.
  • Plan strategically and think tactically as a partner with product and engineering to define the future of the team.
  • Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work using high-quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and cross-platform interactive prototypes.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally, while being able to precisely articulate design rationale.
  • Inspire the entire team (including your cross-functional) partners by bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Create a unified, end-to-end experience through close collaboration with team members from across the Product and Marketing Design Teams.

Experience

  • More than 3 years of experience in UX, UI, and HMI, with experience in web and mobile design.
  • Experience working within a small team of engineers, product managers, and program managers.
  • Experience in designing innovative products for computers and mobile devices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with user research methods and analyses.
  • Proficiency in Figma and other prototyping tools.
  • Excellence in craftsmanship design.
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional, humble, and highly collaborative team.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic and fast-growing start-up environment.

Even if you do not possess exactly the skills mentioned above, please apply. We know that talent comes in many forms.

  • Excellent health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
  • Mental health support program.
  • Fertility and family planning support.
  • Pet care benefit.
  • Health spending account (HSA).
  • REER contribution options.
  • In addition to provincial holidays observed, Lyft employees are covered by the company's paid time off policy. The policy allows employees to take as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly employees receive 15 paid days off, with an additional day for each year of service.
  • Lyft is proud to support new parents with 18 weeks of paid leave, designed as a complement to government programs. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible.
  • Commuter benefit.
