Description

Under the supervision of the manager assigned to the service point, the psychosocial worker provides support to women in vulnerable situations who frequent the various services of Chez Doris (residences, shelters, health centers and services). She accompanies the participants in the stabilization of their living conditions, the valorization of their autonomy and their social integration. She also contributes to the security, well-being, welcome and promotion of the services offered by the organization.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide individual interventions centered on needs (psychosocial evaluations, intervention plans, file management).
  • Support participants in accessing secure, stable and affordable housing (if needed).
  • Promote the acquisition of life skills (financial management, cooking, maintenance, shopping, etc.).
  • Accompany women in their social reintegration and the development of their power to act.
  • Apply intervention techniques aimed at autonomy, consolidation of gains and citizen participation.
  • Welcome clients and present the services, policies and facilities.
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of participants, including prevention and management of crises, conflicts and emergencies (dejudiciarization, first aid, risk assessments, etc.).
  • Intervene with a clientele presenting various issues: precariousness, mental health, addictions, traumas, social isolation, etc.
  • Implement short-term intervention strategies for demanding situations.
  • Refer clients to relevant resources: medical, legal, financial, transportation, daycare, etc.
  • Maintain active links with community partners and internal partners.
  • Follow up on participants excluded or in a situation of service break.
  • Organize or co-host activities promoting social cohesion, inclusion, adaptation to the environment and well-being.
  • Contribute to the promotion of programs and participate in community events.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation (notes, consents, statistics, incident reports).
  • Use internal platforms and tools (e.g.: Hestia, Microsoft 365).
  • Participate in meetings, clinical supervision, training and debriefing sessions.
  • Collaborate in complex situations and support new workers in their integration.
  • Any other task related to the position

Required qualifications

  • DEC in social work or equivalent combination of studies and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum of one (2) year in a community organization (employment or volunteering).
  • Significant experience with marginalized clientele.
  • Knowledge of intervention in crisis situations, suicide, trauma and/or first aid (assets).
  • Knowledge of resources related to homelessness, mental health and addictions (asset).
  • Empathy, active listening, emotional intelligence, solid clinical judgment.
  • Ability to work in a demanding and constantly evolving environment.
  • Very good mastery of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of the realities and cultures of Indigenous peoples (asset).
  • Ability to intervene with people from different cultures.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) — note that mastery of English and French is required, as we are a bilingual organization offering our services in both official languages, in order to meet the varied needs of our clientele.
