Internship - Radio Frequency Engineering

The successful candidate will play an important role in several tasks and responsibilities within a young and dynamic Radio Frequency Engineering team. They will actively participate in the deployment and optimization of cutting-edge cellular and WiFi networks. Additionally, they will regularly support their RF engineering colleagues in the execution of their functions.

More specifically, their main responsibilities will be to

• Take signal measurements for 5G, LTE, HSPA, and WiFi on-site using specialized equipment, mobile phones, and tablets;
• Support the RF engineering team in the design and optimization of 5G, LTE, HSPA, and WiFi networks;
• Ensure regular travel throughout the province with a company-provided vehicle;
• Generate test reports using telecom software;
• Perform signal propagation simulations and produce analysis reports for the Canadian Safety Code 6 standard;
• Contribute to the optimization of network coverage for internal/external clients;
• Participate in the development of new product studies (tests, measurements, report writing, etc.);
• Improve the efficiency of the RF group by developing work tools;
• Maintain various databases up-to-date.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an engineering degree at a university in Quebec;
• Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or Physics Engineering preferred;
• Internship #2 or #3 preferred;
• Ability to work well in a team;
• Demonstrated attention to detail and autonomy in task execution;
• While working in a French-speaking environment (advanced French level required), intermediate English proficiency (spoken and written) is required (the candidate will occasionally communicate with our anglophone partners outside Quebec);
• Strong adaptability to changing contexts and priorities;
• Ability to solve complex problems;
• Basic knowledge of wireless systems (technologies, frequency bands, protocols, propagation);
• Basic knowledge of RF engineering equipment (spectrum analyzer, antennas, filters, coaxial cables, etc.);
• Proficiency with MS Excel;
• Knowledge of Ixus EMF, TEMs Discovery software would be an asset;
• Possession of a valid Quebec driver's license (essential);
• Hybrid remote work offered (3 in-person days required at our Montreal office).
