• The Position

Please note that we only accept applications from candidates based in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec for this position. For candidates based in Quebec, English proficiency is required, as the position involves regular collaboration with teams across the rest of the Americas and occasionally in Europe.

As a Technical Lead – AEM & Edge Delivery Services (EDS), you will be responsible for defining the technical vision, architecture, and delivery excellence of digital experience platforms built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Cloud Service and Edge Delivery Services.

You bring strong backend expertise combined with leadership skills, guiding engineering teams in delivering scalable, secure, and performant solutions. You will play a crucial role in defining solution architecture, applying best practices, and mentoring developers, while remaining actively involved in the most complex implementations.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership and Architecture
• Define and drive solution architecture for AEM Cloud Service and EDS implementations
• Establish technical standards, best practices, and development guidelines
• Define and enforce non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security, resilience)
• Lead design decisions regarding backend architecture, APIs, and integrations
• Collaborate with architects to align technical solutions with business objectives
• Backend Engineering (Direct Involvement)
• Lead the development of AEM backend solutions using:
• Sling Models
• OSGi Services
• Custom Workflows
• Content Fragment Models and GraphQL API
• Design and deliver headless, omnichannel architectures using EDS
• Implement integrations with CRM, PIM, DAM, marketing platforms, and identity management solutions
• Oversee API strategy (REST/GraphQL) to ensure scalability and maintainability
• Cloud, DevOps, and Quality
• Oversee and guide CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Manager, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
• Define and implement code quality standards, automated testing, and deployment processes
• Establish observability frameworks (monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerts)
• Optimize cache Dispatcher/CDN strategies (Fastly, Akamai, CloudFront)
• Promote DevOps maturity and cloud-native best practices within teams
• Security, Performance, and Compliance
• Define and implement security best practices (OWASP, OAuth2/OIDC, secure APIs, secrets management)
• Drive performance optimization initiatives (caching, indexing, query optimization, asset delivery)
• Ensure compliance with data protection, PII management, and governance standards
• Conduct technical risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
• Team Leadership and Delivery
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to backend engineers
• Drive technical backlog refinement and support estimation and planning activities
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA teams, Frontend teams, and Architects
• Ensure delivery excellence by upholding quality standards and timelines
• Required Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

• 8 to 12+ years of software engineering experience
• 6+ years of experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
• 4+ years of experience with AEM as a Cloud Service and Edge Delivery Services (EDS)
• Demonstrated experience in a Technical Lead or Senior Lead role
• Technical Expertise
• Strong expertise in:
• Java (11+/17)
• Sling, OSGi, JCR, Oak
• AEM Core Components
• Content Fragments and GraphQL API
• Universal Editor and EDS delivery models
• Excellent understanding of:
• API design (REST/GraphQL)
• Integration patterns and event-driven architectures
• Messaging systems (Kafka, Azure Service Bus)
• DevOps and Cloud
• CI/CD pipelines and version control (Cloud Manager, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
• Experience with cloud observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, Kibana)
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is an asset)
• Strong experience in configuring and optimizing Dispatcher/CDN
• Security and Performance
• Authentication and authorization (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, Adobe IMS)
• Secrets management (Vault, KMS)
• In-depth knowledge of:
• Performance optimization
• Caching strategies
• Query and index optimization

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Adobe I/O Runtime (serverless)
• Knowledge of integrations with Adobe Target, Launch, and Analytics
• Experience with API gateways (Apigee, Kong, Azure APIM)
• Exposure to GraphQL federation and schema stitching
• Experience in delivering headless, composable architectures across multiple channels (web, mobile, IoT)

Benefits and Perks

This is a full-time position based in Canada.

The offered salary range is between $115,000 CAD and $150,000 CAD per year, depending on experience and location.
