Your contribution

The Syndic's Office protects the public. It is responsible for investigations into the improper conduct of lawyers, the filing of disciplinary complaints, and investigations into re-registration and status changes. It reconciles the accounts of lawyers' fees and provides information services to the public and members of the Order. It also intervenes in the context of seizures and raids.

In this context, you will play a key role in supporting the syndic or syndicate in the administration of their files.

The lawyer at the Syndic's Office performs various tasks assigned by the syndic or syndicate, the deputy syndics or deputy syndics, or the conciliation lawyers regarding their files.

What will be your role?

As part of your duties, you will perform the following missions

  • Analyze and summarize the investigation and conciliation files at the syndic and participate in their assignment;
  • Assist the syndic or syndicate in the application of laws related to access to information;
  • Assist the deputy syndics or deputy syndics and the conciliation lawyers in the drafting of decisions, opinions or reports and ensure the follow-up of their correspondence when required;
  • In the context of the files entrusted to you, communicate and/or meet with complainants or complainants or members to obtain various documents, clarifications or additional information;
  • Inform about the functions of the Syndic's Office of the Bar Association, its field of action and its mode of intervention with complainants or complainants and members;
  • May be called upon to represent the syndic or syndicate before various instances;
  • Act as a representative of the Syndic's Office during raids carried out in the offices of members;
  • Respond to various telephone or other information requests from the public or members;
  • Participate in the drafting of memoranda for the Professional Tribunal;
  • Assist the syndic or syndicate or the deputy syndics or deputy syndics at the occasion of hearings before the Discipline Council or the Professional Tribunal;
  • Execute the seizures of members' files;
  • Perform any other task requested by your superiors or entrusted by the deputy syndics or deputy syndics or the conciliation lawyers.
