About the Role

We are looking for a Production Director, recognized for their sense of accountability, precision in execution, and strong leadership. In this role, you will lead operations on the manufacturing floor and manage multidisciplinary teams (Carpentry, Scenic Painting, Set & Props Electrics, CNC, Sculpting and Molding, FRP/Composite Materials, and Textile Fabrication) to bring immersive themed environments to life. You will work in close collaboration with the Metal Fabrication Director, Mechanical Director, and the Automation and Electrical Director. You will ensure that projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. We are looking for someone who demonstrates strong leadership, is a solid manager of the production cycle, and has a keen understanding of people operations. Knowledge of Theater production, Theme Park experience, and/or museum exhibits are a major asset.

Main ResponsibilitiesShop Leadership & Operations

  • Lead daily activities across all disciplines within the scenic shop;
  • Mentor and supervise department supervisors;
  • Manage shop floor workflow;
  • Adjust staffing levels based on project requirements;
  • Ensure workforce compliance with company policies and implement corrective actions as necessary;
  • Foster talent development within the team.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration:
  • Collaborate closely with the Metal Fabrication Director, Mechanical Director, and Automation and Electrical Director to ensure seamless technical integration across all project components.
  • Capacity & Resource Planning
  • Monitor overall shop capacity;
  • Plan the movement of materials and personnel;
  • Manage the critical path of the fabrication workflow;
  • Present weekly capacity and progress reports to executive management and the project management team.
  • Technical Review & Pre-production
  • Collaborate with client creative teams, technical design, and project management during the pre-production phase;
  • Collaborate with design teams, organize, and conduct drawing reviews;
  • Review shop drawings prior to fabrication release to validate feasibility, cost-efficiency, and budget compliance;
  • Health & Safety Management
  • Hold primary responsibility for health and safety within the workshop;
  • Ensure established Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) preventive measures are followed and enhance safety initiatives as needed;
  • Ensure equipment and tooling are properly maintained according to a fixed schedule;
  • Manage work-related accidents and occupational illness cases in collaboration with Human Resources department;
  • Schedule & Cost Management
  • Prepare production shop schedules based on project timelines provided by Project Managers;
  • Ensure and respect the budgeted hours for shop floor production time;
  • Support project managers in developing and tracking production schedules;
  • Maintain shop priorities through weekly meetings with floor supervisors and regular shop floor walk-throughs;
  • Quality Control & Logistics
  • Enforce rigorous quality standards at every stage of fabrication;
  • Conduct final inspections, approve finished scenery for shipment;
  • Coordinate truck loading schedules;
  • Pre-sales & Procurement Support
  • Support the pre-construction estimating and commercial teams during bid preparation and material selection;
  • Estimate fabrication labor hours and lead times for pending bids;
  • Manage subcontracted fabrication and the ordering of long-lead items.
  • Salary: $105,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year
