• Your responsibilities as a Grocery Department Assistant Manager:
• Execute the manager's directives regarding work assignment, purchasing and receiving merchandise, scheduling workers, order and discipline in the department, etc.
• Substitute for the grocery manager when they are absent and perform the tasks of the latter (coordinate the department, schedule employees, make purchases, handle promotions, conduct inventories, calculate profits, enter data into the computer, etc.)
• Responsible for some merchandise purchases for the department from approved suppliers.
• Receive representatives from companies the department does business with.
• Receive and count merchandise for sale such as grocery products, dairy products, frozen products, and any other product sold by the department. Ensure these products are properly placed in the warehouse, refrigerator, freezer, or any other assigned storage area.
• Label and shelve products for sale according to department rules.
• Perform price changes on shelves and, if necessary, on products in the department.
• If necessary, rotate merchandise on shelves and keep work areas clean.
• Responsible for customer service in the department.
• Ensure employees and yourself wear the required safety equipment.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the department.
• Conduct various inventories in the grocery department.
• Promote the sale of various products and services offered to customers by the department.
• Perform any other tasks as required by your immediate supervisor.

Experience

• Relevant experience in a grocery department;
• Management experience is an asset.
