Reporting to the Operations Director, the Production Manager is responsible for the daily management of production activities to ensure the achievement of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery objectives. They mobilize teams, optimize manufacturing processes, and ensure deadlines are met in a steel framing manufacturing environment.
They act as a proximity leader to team leaders and night supervisors and employees, while collaborating closely with the detailing, purchasing, planning, quality, and human resources departments.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production operations.
- Ensure adherence to manufacturing and delivery deadlines.
- Optimize the use of human, material, and equipment resources.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement improvement solutions.
- Participate in production capacity planning with the production director.
Health and Safety
- Promote a culture of prevention in health and safety.
- Ensure compliance with SST policies, procedures, and standards.
- Participate in accident investigations and follow-up on corrective measures.
Quality
- Ensure products meet customer and applicable standards.
- Participate in quality issue resolution.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce non-conformities.
Continuous Improvement
- Deploy Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze performance indicators (KPIs) and develop action plans.
- Participate in process, productivity, and profitability improvement projects.
Staff Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 25 to 35 employees.
- Ensure effective communication with supervisors and employees.
- Participate in recruitment, integration, and employee evaluation.
- Develop employee skills through coaching and training.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Administrative Management
- Monitor production indicators.
- Prepare various performance reports.
- Actively participate in production, management, and continuous improvement meetings.
- Collaborate on the development and adherence to the operating budget.
- Demonstrate flexibility by being available to work different shifts as operational needs require.
Desired Profile
- College diploma or professional studies diploma.
- A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations management.
- Experience in steel structure fabrication, metalworking, welding, or heavy industry (important asset).
- Experience in supervising teams of 25 employees or more.
Technical Skills
- Excellent knowledge of steel structure manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of production planning.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Mastery of performance indicators (KPIs).
- Good knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Proficiency in a manufacturing ERP (asset).
