Heavy Equipment Mechanic Assistant

Kefor is a company specialized in the design and manufacturing of engineered wood structures. We work with a diverse clientele in the residential, commercial, and multi-unit sectors. We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Assistant to join our maintenance team.

General Description

Under the supervision of the Mechanic, the incumbent will participate in the preventive maintenance and repairs of heavy vehicles and equipment. They will develop their technical skills while respecting safety standards, Kefor's internal procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair

• Assist in the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of:
• heavy trucks
• trailers
• forklifts
• Perform preventive maintenance on heavy vehicles and equipment, such as:
• basic mechanical checks
• oil changes
• lubrication
• Perform necessary repairs to ensure the proper functioning of heavy vehicles and equipment

Diagnosis and Inspection

• Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic defects on heavy vehicles and equipment
• Participate in safety inspections (daily, periodic)
• Report any anomalies or issues to the mechanic

Support to the Mechanical Team

• Prepare equipment and parts needed for work
• Maintain the workshop clean, safe, and organized
• Follow established work procedures

Compliance and SST

• Always respect SST standards (PPE, locking, SIMDUT, etc.)
• Apply safe work procedures
• Participate in SST training and meetings
• Job Requirements

Education

• DEP in heavy vehicle mechanics or started and ongoing training
• or
• Relevant experience with an interest in the profession
• Special Requirements:
• Possess your own toolbox

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanics (engine, brakes, suspension, etc.)
• Ability to use manual and power tools
• Interest in learning and developing skills

Working Conditions

• Workshop work and occasional outdoor work
• Day shift (7 am to 3 pm)

Assets

• SST training certificates (ASP construction)
• Class 5 driver's license (Class 1 or 3)
• Knowledge of heavy vehicles, trailers, forklifts, or industrial domain
• Welding knowledge
