As a member of the store management team, the Supervisor/Department Manager is responsible for managing and directing their department to ensure it operates effectively with a friendly and informed staff. This role ensures customer satisfaction and the execution of retail operations in accordance with performance expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture that values customer service excellence.
  • Maintain the quality of the department's presentation to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Plan and manage daily and weekly activities, department goals, and seasonal changes.
  • Train, supervise, assist, mentor, encourage, motivate, inspire, and support team members in the department's activities.
  • Manage team performance, provide informal and constructive feedback, and recognize achievements and efforts.
  • Prepare work schedules that meet business needs while adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Assist with store opening and closing.
  • Participate in the selection and orientation of new hires.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts while ensuring customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Experience in supervision, leadership, and/or management, or other relevant experience
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (day, evening, weekend, and holidays)
  • Welcoming and customer-focused
  • Ability to perform physical efforts, including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and transporting merchandise, using a ladder, performing twists, turning, and reaching for objects
  • Ability to plan, organize, communicate, delegate, and follow up on team activities and projects
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem-solve, adapt, and handle difficult situations and make tough decisions
  • Ability to use a cash register (asset)
  • Experience in retail, execution, and operations (asset)
  • High school diploma (asset)
