Job Title
- 1114 – Lawyer
A person who, upon request, provides legal opinions and advice and performs all the functions of their profession. Notably, they plead before courts, judicial or quasi-judicial bodies.
Responsibilities
Under the authority of the Director – Access to Information and Personal Information Protection, the person holding the position is responsible for the analysis and preparation of files requiring legal expertise in personal information protection, particularly in relation to technological projects. They provide legal opinions and advice, support technological project managers, and actively contribute to the proper functioning of the Access to Information and Personal Information Protection department.
More specifically, the main areas of action are as follows:
- Act as an expert advisor on all issues related to laws and regulations on personal information protection;
- Issue legal opinions and advice related to the protection, management, and governance of personal information;
- Contribute to the drafting, implementation, management, and legal follow-up of Santé Québec's policies, procedures, and directives on personal information protection and its legal obligations;
- Contribute to various projects within Santé Québec that have a direct impact on the protection, confidentiality, and security of personal information, particularly technological projects;
- Support the teams responsible for the planning, deployment, and follow-up of technological projects to ensure their compliance with the requirements related to personal information protection;
- Inform, sensitize, advise, and support the organization's actors in matters related to the respect of personal information protection;
- Contribute to the harmonization of practices in personal information protection among Santé Québec's establishments;
- Participate in the continuous improvement of processes related to personal information protection by identifying optimization opportunities and proposing innovative solutions;
- Keep up-to-date with their skills and knowledge in the fields of law related to their practice;
- If necessary, perform all related functions in connection with their profession.
Please note that responsibilities may be modified according to the evolution of Santé Québec.
Working Conditions
Hourly Rate: 37.81$ to 76.22$ depending on experience.
Employment Status: Full-time (37.5h)
Base of Operations: Montreal or Quebec
Work Location: Possibility of a hybrid mode.
Start Date: As soon as possible.
Union Accreditation: Non-unionized
Admission Requirements
- The candidate must:
- Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec;
For consideration, any schooling completed outside of Canada must have been subject to a comparative evaluation (equivalence certificate) issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration.
It is mandatory to possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to hold this position.
Selection Criteria
In evaluating applications, the selection committee will consider, among other things, the following criteria:
- Possess at least two (2) years of relevant experience;
- In-depth knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to personal information protection;
- Ability to work in a team and interact with stakeholders in a clear and professional manner;
- Ability to explain legal concepts;
- Proven analytical and synthesis skills;
- Demonstrate initiative and autonomy;
- Have a good capacity to manage priorities;
- Demonstrate rigor;
- Interest in the development of technological projects and digital solutions.
