Main Responsibilities

Validation and Characterization

  • Develop and execute characterization and validation plans.
  • Perform tests on optical components, electronic cards, and subsystems.
  • Analyze product performance and document results.
  • Evaluate results against product specifications.
  • Participate in defining acceptance criteria and qualification strategies.

Component Qualification

  • Evaluate new or replacement optical and electronic components.
  • Identify and qualify second sources to mitigate supply risks.
  • Support component obsolescence activities.
  • Perform comparative analyses to demonstrate technical equivalence of proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain necessary technical information.

Product Support

  • Participate in investigating issues encountered in production or in the field.
  • Perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with development, quality, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and risk reduction activities.

Documentation

  • Write test reports and technical recommendations.
  • Maintain documentation related to qualified components.
  • Ensure traceability of technical changes to products.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics engineering, electrical engineering, photonics engineering, optical engineering, physics, or related discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a laboratory, validation, or product development environment.
  • Experience in component characterization, validation, or qualification.
  • Strong analytical skills for experimental data.
  • Proficiency in French and ability to communicate in technical English.

Desired Experience and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of product metrology and validation principles.
  • Experience with optical and electronic laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding of measurement systems and concepts of measurement uncertainty.
  • Familiarity with optical and/or electronic components used in technological products.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications networks or optical communication systems (asset).
