What You Will Do
The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Engineering Team Lead assigned to their shift. As a Maintenance Technician, you will provide first response to technical failures, perform reactive and scheduled maintenance activities, and participate in continuous improvement projects within our automated and cutting-edge Order Fulfillment Center (OFC).
Daily responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include:
- Perform scheduled electrical and mechanical maintenance on the entire site in a precise, timely, and safe manner, ensuring compliance with maintenance procedures;
- Update accurate records such as work activities, tasks performed, parts used from the store, etc.;
- Perform assembly and sub-assembly repairs following written work instructions, drawings, and schematics;
- Respond to material handling equipment failures (mechanical and electrical), troubleshoot to identify the defect, analyze the problem, and complete the repair in a timely manner to minimize operational downtime;
- Perform daily housekeeping and equipment cleaning tasks;
- Work closely with other Maintenance Technicians to find ways to increase the reliability of existing and new machines, diagnose equipment failures, and perform repairs, ensuring that workforce management and planned engineering activities fully support the operation;
- Complete quality inspections to ensure work is performed according to safety standards;
- Follow all Health and Safety directives;
- Monitor the status of robots and the physical grid.

In the event of hiring for a site in the Pre-Launch / Startup phase, the first 6 to 9 months will involve training and will likely require travel to obtain this training at another site in North America. In the event that the operation is in the initial startup phase, the daily responsibilities of this role may be different while supporting the needs of a facility in its initial commissioning stages. Once the facility is commissioned, the roles defined in this job description will become the daily responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician.
Who You Are?
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Some technical ability and understanding of automation hardware and software would be preferable;
- College diploma, trade school, or advanced training in maintenance;
- Strong analytical skills with a concern for detail; good problem-solving and practical approach;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively convey knowledge to others;
- Good organizational skills, able to manage priorities;
- Knowledge of control systems would be an asset;
- Must be comfortable working at heights;
- Experience in performing electrical or mechanical maintenance, including predictive and preventive maintenance;
- Experience in diagnosing and documenting equipment failures, troubleshooting, and managing repairs;
- Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred;
- Comfortable with numbers and computers, including Word, Excel, etc.;
- Flexible to work on a shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Activities
- Climbing or descending ladders and stairs;
- Moving between work sites to accomplish tasks in confined and restricted spaces;
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for a prolonged period;
- Adjusting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds in all directions. Work involving moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds or more;
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
Location You will be based at the McKesson facility in Montreal, Quebec.
