NIGHT INTERVENOR: Thursday to Saturday, 27.45 hrs/week

*Logifem is committed to providing support and housing to vulnerable women and children, allowing them to feel at home, heal, and rebuild their lives. We offer shelter in two residences for a maximum stay of one year and have transitional apartments where the stay can go up to three years. Each woman is followed by a psychosocial intervenor. The needs of the residents are very varied and can be related to mental health, immigration status, domestic violence, isolation, financial difficulties, parenting skills, and more.*

Due to the specific needs of our residents, this position is open only to female applicants.

Responsibilities: The night intervenor must ensure the proper functioning of the shelter by following the appropriate routine and established norms at Logifem. They must follow procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of the sheltered women and children by responding to their needs and conducting regular tours of the house. They also ensure the cleanliness of the premises by performing household maintenance of common areas. The intervenor works alone for most of their shift.

Saturday 11:00 PM to 8:15 AM (27.45 hrs/week)

Routine and Intervention

• Provide significant presence, daily accompaniment, and psychological support to the sheltered individuals at all times;
• Ensure the general functioning of the house by following the pre-established routine (medication, tours, camera checks);
• Ensure the well-being and safety of the sheltered individuals at all times;
• Verify that all external openings (doors and windows) are closed and deny access to individuals not affiliated with the establishment;
• Handle the phone;
• Know the protocol to follow in case of fire or evacuation and the different emergency numbers to use according to the situation (fainting, fire, runaway, etc.);
• Intervene in crisis situations when necessary;
• Prepare breakfast so that women and children can serve themselves in the morning;
• Train new intervenors on call for the night shift.

Team Communication

• Become familiar with the digital log, evolving notes, reports, and resident files and record relevant information when necessary;
• Report relevant information during shift changes;
• Become familiar with the highlights of the team meeting by reading the minutes;
• For any new resident, prepare and print name labels to be used for their locker, file, task board, and others.

Premises Maintenance

• Clean and maintain common areas (kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom) on a daily basis and the basement, corridor, intervenors' office, vestibule, and laundry on a weekly basis following established instructions;
• Wash and fold laundry, towels, and bedding in case of resident departures during the day and store them in designated areas;
• Check that household products and the required food stock for breakfast are complete and regularly update the shopping lists;
• Restock the kitchen according to established instructions.

Qualifications

• College diploma in a discipline related to social services with at least one year of experience in a similar role OR at least two years of experience working in an organization serving a vulnerable population;
• Good physical fitness;
• Strong organizational and administrative skills;
• Demonstrated qualities: great autonomy, emotional stability, interpersonal relationship skills, resourcefulness, solid problem-analysis and resolution skills, and priority management; ability to manage stress in crisis situations;
• Strong oral and written communication skills in French and English;
• First Aid and CPR training is an asset.

Salary: Between 20.82$ and 21.87$/hour.

Social Benefits:

Vacation: 6% of the salary contribution to the vacation bank upon hiring, three weeks of vacation after 12 months of continuous service;

REER: After one year of service, Logifem will deposit an amount equivalent to five percent (5%) of the gross salary into a collective savings account every two weeks;

Short-term Disability: After six months: three paid sick days per calendar year;
