As the operations manager of the Baie-des-Chaleurs nursery, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all activities by:

  • Organizing, planning, and optimizing the annual activity schedule, coordinating the needs for labor, inputs, equipment, and infrastructure;
  • Contributing to the development of operational budgets and monitoring them, producing production and management reports, and analyzing performance indicators;
  • Supervising, motivating, and developing team members and managing the recruitment and staffing of the team (35 employees);
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable standards and guaranteeing the health of the crops (control of insects, diseases, and weeds);
  • Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives, promoting the sharing of information and best practices between sectors and sites;
  • Representing and actively participating in the nursery's committees and bodies.

You will be on your X if you have

  • A bachelor's degree in agronomy and/or a DEC in horticulture, management, and agricultural enterprise technologies, or any equivalent combination;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in team and operations management in a horticultural or agricultural production environment;
  • Good mastery of the Office suite (Word, Excel) and technological tools such as databases.

Don't forget a mobilizing leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, and priority management!

To ensure your success in your functions, we offer the following working conditions:

  • A salary between $31.22/h and $37.30/h;
  • A 40-hour/week position, from April to November, with variable hours outside the season according to operational needs;
  • A schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday;
  • Accumulated vacation days at a rate of one day per day worked (maximum of 12 days) to ensure rest during the season;
  • A moving allowance and assistance in settling in the region if needed;
  • Access to two essential forest networks of public and private forests that bring together expertise in all areas of the forest industry (financial, management, technical, operational).

Located in Paspébiac, Gaspésie, the Baie-des-Chaleurs nursery, with nearly 35 members, spans an area of 6 hectares and produces over 3.5 million seedlings. It is an integral part of the SARGIM cooperative, founded in 1982, which also has a nursery located in New Richmond. Here, mutual aid, solidarity, and conviviality prevail!
