Company Description
Based in Montreal, Detroit, and Munich, Vention helps manufacturers automate their operations in record time with the only AI-powered hardware and software platform designed for the factory. Our technology powers over 25,000 machines in 4,000 factories across 5 continents, and we have the privilege of collaborating with a significant proportion of Fortune 500 manufacturers, ranging from rocket construction to electric vehicle manufacturing, through to robotics.
At Vention, you will work alongside passionate and talented people who care about their craft and the impact they create. We form a team of ambitious people who grow through meaningful work, tackling complex challenges, learning quickly, and seeing the results of their efforts every day.
We move fast and aim high, but we do it together, with care, collaboration, and respect. Our culture values the diversity of perspectives and supports your development through intentional mentorship, strong leadership, and concrete opportunities to make a real difference.
What You Will Do
As a Product Manager for Vention's robotic programming and automation platform, you will be responsible for the product roadmap of the software used to program Vention's machines and robots — from our no-code visual creation experience to our code-focused development environment, through to the operator interfaces (HMI). This is the environment where customers transform an idea into a functional automation solution, and this platform is entering its most exciting phase: a transition to a unified, AI-native creation experience that caters to both non-technical users and expert developers within a single platform.
In this role, you will collaborate with customers, integrators, and internal stakeholders to understand emerging needs, guide the software development teams responsible for these products, and support sales and marketing teams during product launches. With your expertise in product management and understanding of industrial automation, you will be ideally positioned to guide product strategy and ensure effective prioritization of efforts and resources.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include the following: Product Management
- Conduct interviews with operators, automation engineers (controls), integrators, and Vention's deployment team to understand application requirements, functional gaps, and real-world manufacturing constraints.
- Perform comparative analyses of competing automation programming environments, visual or low-code tools, and AI-assisted development experiences.
- Conduct analyses to define new product specifications and evaluate the performance of existing features (visual sequencing, code generation, HMI design, robotic programming, deployment, and debugging).
- Define and maintain a unified product roadmap covering all creation environments, the operator interface layer, and supporting tools.
- Prepare detailed requirements documents for new features and capabilities, including technical requirements and business logic.
- Contribute to the evolution of the platform towards an AI-augmented creation experience and a more integrated developer experience, balancing short-term value for customers with the long-term vision of the platform.
- Lead the preparation of quarterly product reviews (QPRs).
- Contribute to sales enablement materials and train sales teams (sales representatives, application engineers, customer success team, etc.).
- Work closely with the marketing team to provide information needed for product launch campaigns.
- Track and communicate key product performance indicators, including feature adoption, application deployment time, program reliability, support ticket volume, and user satisfaction across different user profiles.
- Product Portfolio Management (Product Ownership)
- Organize and prioritize the backlog of tickets covering the visual editor, code editor, HMIs, and other product development areas.
- Break down new feature requirements into sequenced tickets to ensure effective execution.
- Prepare and facilitate sprint kickoffs, ensuring that software teams understand the scope of the work and can effectively define how to deliver the solutions.
- Track and communicate schedules for each feature or product, as well as measure team performance.
- Perform business validation (QA) of new features to ensure a user experience that enhances the value of the Vention platform.
- Collaborate with software teams and human resources to ensure that teams have the expertise needed to deliver the annual roadmap.
- Support development team productivity by planning time for technical debt reduction and bug elimination, or allowing some refactoring activities within the context of new feature development.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related field.
- More than 3 years of experience in product management within a developer tools, software platform, robotics, industrial technologies, or another highly technical context.
- Ability to bridge the gap between technical software teams and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear product requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data sets and product usage data.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
- Strong orientation towards rapid execution and achieving results.
- Excellent project management and risk mitigation skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute contingency plans.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where deadlines are tight and good time management is essential.
- Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with developer tools, integrated development environments (IDEs), low-code/no-code platforms, or AI-assisted creation products.
- Knowledge of industrial automation applications (e.g., machine feeding, palletizing, assembly, kit preparation).
- Practical experience in robotic arm programming, trajectory planning, PLC/controls systems, or human-machine interface (HMI) design.
- Knowledge of Python programming.
- Experience in the marketing and industrialization of large-scale software products, from design to production.
- Experience or exposure to products integrating artificial intelligence and autonomous agents, as well as an interest in their application in the industrial automation domain.
