The Mistassini sawmill, located on Lake Saint-Jean, enjoys a prime geographical location for direct access to its raw material, giving it an advantage in terms of transportation costs. We employ some 140 people who work in our sawing and drying facilities. Recent investments have focused on replacing one of the two sawing lines and improving drying capacity, to ensure the sustainability of our operation and the job security of our employees.

Our facility is looking for qualified individuals to fill a Heavy Equipment Operator Replacement Journeyman position. This is a permanent full-time position.

*The particularity of this position is the combination of journeyman work and heavy equipment operation. That is to say, the person hired will act as a journeyman in the plant and will also fill partial needs in the yard department as a heavy equipment operator.*

Your responsibilities as a journeyman

• Operate and monitor various production equipment in our departments;
• Clean certain areas of the plant and maintain your environment clean and safe;
• Ensure the quality of products according to our standards and customer requirements;
• Apply the required procedures in health and safety, environment, and according to the ISO standard.

Your responsibilities as a heavy equipment operator

• Ensure all operations related to the use of assigned heavy equipment, in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards;
• Feed the plant with raw material;
• Unload trucks with raw wood;
• Prepare and empty wood for the dryers;
• Communicate and collaborate with your suppliers and customers (operators, truck drivers, shipping, etc.) to ensure the best possible efficiency.

Your profile

• You hold a Professional Studies Diploma (DEP) in heavy equipment operation, forest road construction, or construction equipment operation;
• You are recognized as a safe person who makes no compromises for safety;
• You have an interest in the industrial environment and possess good resourcefulness;
• You are available for a rotating schedule (day/evening/night).
