Description

We are currently looking for a manager to oversee the management of the packaging department while also contributing to packaging tasks. This is a hybrid position: you will spend 50% of your time managing and 50% of your time working on-site, doing packaging.

Located at Mirabel Airport, Productions La Fayette specializes in the production of French bakery and pastry products. Our 50-person workforce is dedicated to creating handcrafted products combined with high-volume production processes.

The packaging department is the final step in this artisanal production process, before our products are shipped to customers. The packaging team, consisting of 3 people, is responsible for quality control, conditioning, and packaging of finished products: a crucial step to ensure the excellence of our premium products.

DESCRIPTION OF MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and train the staff assigned to the packaging department;
  • Coordinate daily packaging activities by prioritizing and assigning tasks;
  • Collaborate closely with different production departments to plan packaging needs;
  • Maintain the highest degree of quality by controlling the specifications of finished products and their packaging;
  • Track and adjust inventories;
  • Perform computer operations in the MRP (Interal);
  • Document the packaging method and keep the procedure manual up-to-date;
  • Apply and enforce the company's established hygiene, sanitation, and safety norms;
  • Respect and enforce the company's policies and regulations;
  • Ensure a positive work environment is maintained and promoted;
  • Provide suggestions for all improvements and manage change when implementing new methods, processes, or procedures.

Academic Background

  • High school diploma (DES)
  • Professional training in food production (asset)

Experience

  • 7 years of experience in the food production/processing sector
  • 2 years of experience in packaging, product conditioning, or food quality control
  • Experience in team management and/or supervision

Knowledge

  • Principles of hygiene and sanitation (MAPAQ)
  • Principles of quality control, e.g., HACCP
  • Environment Ms Office and production management software (ERP/MRP)

  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the start and end of the day
  • Adaptability and good organizational skills
  • Good communication and ability to train/mentor
  • Good dexterity and appreciation for repetitive manual work (approximately 50% of the task)
  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled and cold environment (freezer)
  • Attention to detail
  • Appreciation of teamwork
  • Good physical condition, able to handle weights up to 25 kg and work standing
  • Comfort with computers
  • Ability to speak, read, and write French

  • Permanent daytime position, 40 hours/week
  • Monday to Friday, starting between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, ending between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM
