The Role - Supervisor - Laboratory, Waste Management and Documentation

We are pleased to announce a new opportunity as a Supervisor - Laboratory, Waste Management and Documentation at the Brownsburg-Chatham manufacturing site. Reporting to the Quality Director, this role supervises a unionized team and ensures safe, reliable operations that meet quality requirements.

What You Will Do

Direct the daily activities of the laboratory and waste management, establish priorities, and maintain regular presence in the areas.

Plan workforce, schedules, overtime, holidays, training, and team development.

Apply the collective agreement as well as Orica's policies and procedures.

Track indicators, actions, resources, budget, and operational needs.

Ensure the availability of equipment, supplies, and continuity of operations.

Monitor and communicate operational tests and routine controls in the areas under your responsibility.

Support production, qualifications, and technical investigations requiring tests or analyses.

Maintain a safe and compliant work environment for explosives and sensitive materials.

Supervise the Brownsburg documentation system, the technical writer, and the lifecycle of controlled documents.

Ensure document consistency in OpenText, the intranet, and controlled briefcases.

Coordinate internal audits and support external audits as well as ISO 9001 requirements.

Lead quality investigations, manage non-conforming products, and follow up on corrective actions.

Analyze trends and indicators to support continuous improvement.

Evaluate quality impacts in the change management process.

Collaborate with different services and Orica's other sites to address operational and quality issues.

Your Contribution

University degree in engineering, sciences, or a related technical field, or a college diploma (DEC) in a relevant field. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, or quality control environment.

Experience in supervision, resource planning, and priority management.

Inspiring leadership, diligence, autonomy, and problem-solving skills.

Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365

Ability to work in French and communicate in English with out-of-Quebec partners.

Assets

Experience in a unionized or regulated industry.

Knowledge of ISO 9001, audits, and document management.

Experience with OpenText, SAP, or comparable systems.

Experience in laboratory, product testing, or explosives sector.
