- Who We Are
The origins of Jean Coutu Group date back to 1969, when the first store opened in Montreal by its founder, Mr. Jean Coutu. He designed, for the retail sector of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products, an innovative formula based on wholesale sales of a wide range of products, the quality of service, and long opening hours. Today, the Jean Coutu network is among the most reputable names in Canada's retail pharmacy industry and has a network of 417 franchised stores in Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ontario.
In May 2018, METRO acquired Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc. The merger of these two major companies created a retail leader of $18 billion, in a strong position to meet the growing needs of consumers in food, pharmacy, health, and beauty.
