The Environment and Ecological Transition Service contributes to the well-being, health, and safety of the population by creating and preserving healthy, sustainable, and resilient living environments.
As a leader in the environment, it innovates and implements best practices to address environmental challenges and support ecological transition. It guides and raises awareness among the population and municipal teams to reduce their environmental footprint.
The Service ensures the quality and compliance of water, air, food, and living environments according to current standards. It actively works to prevent, regulate, and reduce pollution.
Through its actions, it protects ecosystems and contributes to a healthy and sustainable environment for current and future generations.
Your Mandate
Temporary, but rich in experience! Seize a unique opportunity to gain sought-after expertise in air sampling and environmental monitoring within the largest city in Quebec.
You perform tasks related to sampling, measurement, collection, and tracking of environmental pollutants on the territory of the Montreal agglomeration, at air quality sampling sites for atmospheric emissions from fixed sources (industrial stacks) and/or ambient air quality stations. You also participate in research activities in this sector.
But that's not all, more specifically, you:
- install detection, measurement, and sampling systems for environmental pollutants at pollution sources (on the ground, in towers, on roofs);
- ensure the proper functioning of measurement devices, calibrate them, and perform maintenance, using pneumatic, electrical, chemical, hydraulic, or other relevant techniques;
- collect samples from industrial atmospheric emissions;
- collaborate with industry representatives to obtain samples of fuels and other raw materials taken from tanks, and complete the required documentation associated with the sampling;
- monitor sampling activities to ensure compliance;
- analyze and use data from analyzers;
- write reports and prepare presentations;
- participate in quality assurance and quality control activities;
- contribute to the implementation of the occupational health and safety program.
PROFILE REQUIRED
- Diploma in natural environment techniques (environmental protection profile), instrumentation and automation, bioecology, analytical chemistry, industrial processes, or another relevant field
- 1 year of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, specifically in air sampling
- Class 5 driver's license
