Description

The Mékinac Volunteer Action Center, a non-profit organization, is looking for a motivated, positive, dynamic, creative person with a very good team spirit and leadership to join their team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the thrift store, ensuring its proper functioning and development, maintaining a harmonious work environment with volunteers, and supervising a team of volunteers.

Skills required: Administrative and computer knowledge (office suite), demonstrated ability in oral and written communication, good physical endurance, excellent adaptability and stress tolerance. Under the general direction, the holder of this position will perform the following tasks:

  • Supervise the proper functioning of the store and promote its development
  • Welcome new store volunteers, train, and motivate them
  • Quickly follow up with volunteers and other staff in problematic situations
  • Maintain a pleasant and harmonious work environment, appropriate environmental conditions for volunteers and participants in employment programs involved in the store
  • Daily accounting, bank deposit preparation, daily service statistics, monthly compilation and submission to the statistics manager
  • Determine the work schedules of the store staff, make purchases of materials and equipment after authorization from the management
  • Plan sales and special activities to increase customer base
  • Ensure the cleanliness and decoration of the premises
  • Organize an annual information, evaluation, motivation, and recognition meeting for people involved in the service
  • Ensure that the store entrance and the area near the bin are always free and clean (snow removal)
  • Be open to feedback from employees and customers
  • Participate in team meetings
  • May be called upon to give and receive training
  • Participate in promotion and fundraising activities for the organization
  • Perform any other tasks that contribute to the proper functioning and development of the organization

REQUIREMENTS

-College studies or D.E.P. in a relevant field or combined training with relevant work experience -Demonstrated skills in using software: Windows, Word, Excel -Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication -Knowledge in administrative and personnel management -Own a vehicle and a valid driver's license -Good physical capacity, able to handle loads of 20 lbs and more
