RIMAP has quickly distinguished itself as the largest hotel operator in Montreal, while continuing its expansion in the downtown Ottawa market. The company manages several recognized establishments in the hospitality sector.

Under the banner of RIMAP Hospitality Services, we are looking for our next Housekeeping Director to join our dynamic team.

You will play an essential leadership role by ensuring impeccable cleanliness of rooms and public areas, optimal customer satisfaction, and operational excellence in your department. Your expertise in team management, laundry operations optimization, and strict adherence to hygiene standards will directly contribute to maintaining the highest quality standards.

Role Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Housekeeping Director supervises and manages all operations of the department as well as the housekeeping team. He/she supports his/her colleagues to provide the best customer experience and applies all necessary procedures to maintain the standards of the establishment. He/she ensures employee and customer satisfaction regarding the cleaning and daily preparation of rooms and public areas. He/she is also responsible for managing the department's budgets.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning of the housekeeping department's operations.
  • Participate in the hiring process in collaboration with the human resources department.
  • Ensure training, onboarding, and scheduling of team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, ensure standards are met, and manage the performance of all housekeeping staff.
  • Supervise the team daily: training on hygiene standards, daily inspections to ensure compliance with establishment standards.
  • Daily evaluate stock levels and inventories.
  • Perform quality control of washed linens.
  • Manage the laundry and ensure compliance with quality and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor and optimize key performance indicators (KPI) related to service for his/her department.
  • Establish a culture of ongoing training and accountability within the team to achieve high results.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to any emergency or security situation within the hotel.
  • Handle guest complaints regarding rooms and public areas with professionalism, confidentiality, and courtesy.
  • Accurately and promptly respond to guest requests, in person, by phone, or via available technologies.
  • Utilize computer systems to produce various daily reports and ensure that guest preferences and specifications are respected and applied as much as possible.
  • Ensure that teams receive a clear and complete briefing before each shift.
  • Participate in periodic inventories (linens, uniforms, supplies) and recommend actions based on results.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the laundry service.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are well maintained.
  • Manage operational expenses according to budget and business needs, and establish adequate control systems.
  • Ensure that orders are made based on needs and avoid stock shortages.
  • Always ensure the cleanliness of rooms and public areas according to the highest hygiene standards.
  • Adhere to payroll procedures and ensure the accuracy of submitted hours as well as timely submission of information to accounting at each pay period end.
  • Act in accordance with the establishment's work rules and RIMAP's code of conduct.
  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the functions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Spoken and written French and English; knowledge of a third language is an asset.
  • Proficient with computers and major Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong management, supervision, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage a large and diverse group of employees.
  • Inspiring leadership focused on team development through clear communication and effective coaching.
  • Ability to read, understand, and manage a budget.
  • Ability to anticipate, take initiative, identify risks, and positively manage conflicts.
  • Ability to work in motion, primarily standing, and to lift, push or pull loads up to 25 kg.
  • Excellent communication skills, tailored to different types of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and innovative approach to operational standards.
  • Professional presentation and excellent interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary or college degree in hotel management or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in housekeeping management.
  • Experience in hospitality or a related sector is desirable.
